I need to get an .m4a player to listen to this. Can anyone make a recommendation on how and what to install?

Download iTunes (it's free). You can convert the .m4a file to an mp3 or other file if you do not own an ipod.

I've converted the file from the abomination known as M4A into the lovely format known as OGG. The problem is I don't seem to have anywhere to put the file where y'all can get to it. (my personal web site is down at the moment), something about improving the service. Not sure how not being able to use the service counts an an improvement

Anyone want to host it? 44 megs.

You don't have to give Apple a dime...just use the software to convert the files.

Installing itunes, and other players, pisses alot of non computer geeks off. Especially if you have lots of music on your PC.  Read up on it first. I back all my mp3 music on DVD, and all my other files  ..... example,

Mindcore, Lots of us don't have ipods nor use mp4 files. So to reach a bigger audience, it seems wiser to send audio as mp3 instead of mp4.  Most every one can play mp3  files  .....

OK guys...I suggested a free, simple way to convert files so you can listen to Mindcore's (or anyone else's) podcasts.

Whether or not one is a computer geek, or one prefers Apple stuff (I do! I do!) or not, an MP3 file will not sound as good as an AAC file.  For more information about AAC (as much as I hate Wikipedia, it is good enough for this):

Apple did NOT invent this technology. Remember Dolby labs (oh gawd, some of you probably do not)? They had a hand in it...along with Nokia, At&T, and others. 

BTW, I use both a Dell PC and Apple computers and have iTunes on every computer in the house and have never once had a problem. Not once! And my 83 year old mother uses iTunes on her PC with Vista. She downloads podcasts. She is not a computer geek, I can assure you.

But always back up your files...

1: Download VLC media player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
2: Run the install program.
3. Start VLC.
4: Open the File menu and select Open Network Stream.
5: Select the HTTP/... option and copy and paste into the URL box from the long URL in the original post.  (To copy the URL in Firefox, right click on "Listen to this episode" and select "Copy Link Location." )
6: Click OK.
7: Enjoy!

Or you can download the .m4a file and just open it with VLC.

VLC is an open source audio/video player that knows many audio/video formats and runs on multiple operating systems.

Hey guys, sorry it took me so long to respond, i just found out about these responses today. If you search "mindcore" on the iTunes store, the podcast is there.

I'm sorry about the m4as, but for some reason when I save the files from my editing software as mp3s they are 150 megabytes or more, and when I turn them to m4as they are much, much smaller. There are probably a hundred tricks that I could do to make them shrink, but because of school I'm a little to busy to figure it out for the next few months.

If anyone wants to make them as mp3s and repost them, I will not be offended.

If anyone wants a CD just send me an email at rodrigoneely@gmail.com and I will send you a CD with the episode burned on it.

MP3 size, there should be a simple options box there to choose; 64 - 128 - up to 360. 64 works fine for my old ears, especially for dialog ..... 128 is most common it seems.
