Falwell is Training Debaters To Perform 'Assault Ministry'

...Xtians are always whining that they are 'being attacked' and that there is a 'war on xtianity'. Well, they started it. I hope secularists wake up soon and realize that we are under a massive assault and need to fight back...

Radical Right's Falwell: Training Debaters To " Perform Assault Ministry...Becoming The Conscience Of The Culture"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/01/29/radical-rights-falwell-_n_14696.html

When you believe the end of the world is coming, you learn to talk fast. On a Friday afternoon the debate team from Liberty University, Jerry Falwell's fundamentalist Baptist college, is madly rehearsing for the tournament about to begin. This year's topic: should the United States increase diplomatic and economic pressure on China. They may just be practicing, but you wouldn't know it from the menacing mosquito-buzz rising as all 20 debaters read their speeches at once, as fast as they can. Policy debate on the college level has become a rapid-fire verbal assault, an arguments-per-minute game, that sounds more like the guy at the end of the car commercial than an eloquent Oxford intellectual. There is tension and more than a little spittle in the air. The Liberty team is currently ranked No. 1 in the country, above Harvard (14th) and all the other big names. But for the evangelicals, there's a lot more at stake than a trophy. Falwell and the religious right figure that if they can raise a generation that knows how to argue, they can stem the tide of sin in the country. Seventy-five percent of Liberty's debaters go on to be lawyers with an eye toward transforming society. "I think I can make an impact in the field of law on abortion and gay rights, to get back to Americans' godly heritage," says freshman debater Cole Bender...

Falwell is Training Debaters To Perform 'Assault Ministry'

you know I've been calling for the silent assault on america by the xtian right for a long time now. Most people have no idea that there is a socio-political agenda that is very much poised to change the course of this country to a theocratic state. We need to fight this at all levels, I think the most important way is to expose the xtian right, show the nation what is going on.

Most people I've talked to in the past have excused this as nonesense. The say that there is no xtian right conspiracy.. that their numbers are minimal..oh yeah? look at the supreme court now...it's scary....and us atheists and rational thinkers are being shut out from the conversation because their anti-rationalist propaganda is working hard at demonizing us. IF they want to make me a demon..a demon I'll become....

THey are attacking this from all angles. school, politics, social events...it is getting out of hand. The straussian, neoconservative agenda is beginning to take shap just as PNAC and these religious gluttons want to..the end result? Control, and money. I think that in order to fight back, we need to approach this problem from a multi-conceptual approach...not only expose the irrationality of religion, but also expose the political and social agenda that think tanks like PNAC, the Discovery INstitutue, Cato Institute are working so hard at achieving. I think this is the only way rationality will return to the US.

Atheist Books, purchases on Amazon support the Rational Response Squad server which houses Celebrity Atheists.

Does anyone else find it a little ironic that the name of the school is LIBERTY FUCKING UNIVERSITY!?!

You can't rationally argue out something that was not rationally argued in.
