The bible and you.

It could be argued that most conservative christians are for capitalism, but I have read the bible twice and it seems to propogate socialism. (I'm no bible scholar by any means)

Anyway, it seems to have been written by people who did not work, were down on the rich and were constantly looking for ways to make 2 fish out of one.. as well as garnering a general handout. IMO the bible has been twisted in it's rewritings by authoritative figureheads to actually suppress the masses rather than what was probably it's original intent, to propogate some basic socialism.

Am I reading it wrong? If I am right what does this mean for the conservative christians of today?

Faith is the word but next to that snugged up closely "lie's" the want.

 As someone who travels in

As someone who travels in right wing circles I have asked this very question. Usually the response I get is that the Bible says YOU are your brothers keeper, not government, so it is your obligation to give to charity (usually through the church) not to use government for charitable work. Personally, I think it is a view pushed by some churches because they realize that if the government was doing everything the church's donations would dwindle. They tend to pick and choose what is convenient.

Ironically, they will be all for freedom in economics until it comes to issues like legalized gambling, prostitution, pot or "faith based initiatives". Then suddenly the free market doesn't work apparently. But that is politics for you, very few people have any real principles. They simply approach politics with the attitude that everyone has to do whatever they consider "right" and what they think is right is more often decided by their gut than any principle. This problem can be seen all over the political spectrum.

If, if a white man puts his arm around me voluntarily, that's brotherhood. But if you - if you hold a gun on him and make him embrace me and pretend to be friendly or brotherly toward me, then that's not brotherhood, that's hypocrisy.- Malcolm X

I read it the same way. Jesus seems to preach idealistic socialism.

They see what they want to see.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, | As I foretold you, were all spirits, and | Are melted into air, into thin air; | And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, | The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, | The solemn temples, the great globe itself, - Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, | And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, | Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff | As dreams are made on, and our little life | Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare

No you are reading it right. In fact in Acts the Christians sold all they had and lived as communists ( communally).!!!!

Early forms of Christianities are not what we have today. In fact there is no original form of Christianity that survives. There are 30,000 denominations of Christianity today. They are all various forms of superstition.

Then ya got 30,001. The Ebionites were called the Poor and were Jewish followers of the teaching of Jesus. They did not worship him. They bought into his philosphy ( communal????)

Feudalism I understand it

Feudalism I understand it that the form of government that is closest to the bible is feudalism, particularly the OT with one nation under God.

Capitalism is based on personal greed, which is one of the deadly sins. Christianity today is quite hypocritical particularly the fundies.

There are around 500 text referring to helping the poor, but zero on abortion. Yet what do you hear most about.

They want one nation under god but not for the government to follow the bible but their twisted and inconsistent agenda.

Religion Kills !!!

Numbers 31:17-18 - Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
