Irrational Precepts Regarding Language

1. The notion that there is a "proper" dialect of a given language that is superior to other dialects of the given language.

2. The Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis

3. That the quality of language is declining

4. That language and intellegence are linked

Except this is false.  Chomsky's theories are well supported by the evidence.  Remember, linguistics is the scientific study of language.  Hence, Chomsky's theories are not mere musings, but scientific fact.

While i do respect Chomsky

While i do respect Chomsky and his ideas, Chomskyan Generative Linguistics are a thing of the past, now it's all about Cognitive Linguistics....Jump on board my friend, everyone is doing it Eye-wink
