The Mythicist Position

I would think many here would be interested in the new mythicist position:

The Mythicist Position:

"Mythicism represents the perspective that many gods, goddesses and other heroes and legendary figures said to possess extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes are not “real people” but are in fact mythological characters. Along with this view comes the recognition that many of these figures personify or symbolize natural phenomena, such as the sun, moon, stars, planets, constellations, etc., constituting what is called “astrotheology.” As a major example of the mythicist position, various biblical characters such as Adam and Eve, Satan, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King David, Solomon & Jesus Christ, among other figures, in reality represent mythological characters along the same lines as the Egyptian, Sumerian, Phoenician, Indian, Greek, Roman and other godmen, who are all presently accepted as myths, rather than historical figures."

"I find it undeniable that ... many of the epic heroes and ancient patriarchs and matriarchs of the Old Testament were personified stars, planets, and constellations."

- Dr. Robert Price, biblical scholar

"Your scholarship is relentless! ...the research conducted by D.M. Murdock concerning the myth of Jesus Christ is certainly both valuable and worthy of consideration."

Can't say too much about it

Can't say too much about it yet but from the headlines you posted, this position is hardly "new".

Not only does this fail to

Not only does this fail to be all that new but stellar house publishing has exactly one author plus a bunch of back catalog titles from other publishers.

I smell possible spam here.  I am going to wait and see if Dave posts a bunch more times before pulling the trigger though.  What about it Dave?  Are you real?

Yes, of course I'm real and

Yes, of course I'm real and I've posted here before.  I stopped posting here for a long time because all my friends were being banned for the most absurd reasons ...

There has never been such a clearly defined and explained mythicist position before.  Rather than whine about it not being new just read the links and watch the video.  It makes more sense to me than anything else - probably because it's common sense, which is quite rare these days. Maybe you missed the quotes from a couple of highly respected scholars?

Did you really think that because people responded with "it's not a new position" they've never read it?

"I've seen it before" is not a comment of ignorance but of familiarity.

Do you, perchance, think Acharya S and D.M. Murdock are different people?

Yes, I am aware that Acharya S and D.M. Murdock are the same person. I have actually read her books, what about you?

The fact remains that there has never been such a clearly defined and succinctly explained mythicist position before until Acharya S/Murdock recently created it as cited above in the original post.

In fact I have, that's why said her positions were old hat.

What I didn't say is that they've also been debunked.

You need to do more research than just her site.

"In fact I have" By your

"In fact I have"

By your comments I see no reason to believe you've actually read her work.

"that's why said her positions were old hat."

You still don't know the difference between research and a succinct mythicist position?

The fact remains that there has never been such a clearly defined and succinctly explained mythicist position before until Acharya S/Murdock recently created it as cited above in the original post. If you believe otherwise then simply provide a quote to a clearly defined and succinctly explained mythicist position. There aren't any.

"What I didn't say is that they've also been debunked."

LOL, keep dreaming in la la land. That's just dumb. Really dumb. Primary sources and scholar commentary on them prove otherwise. I knew better than expect much from this forum. It's always been a major disappointment here. I just thought you guys might have grown up a bit by now. Guess not. I've wasted enough time here already. I'll have to go elsewhere for mature and intelligent discussion, as per usual.

I love the irony of getting called immature by a starfucking fanboy.

Your problem is that Jesus is an amalgamation of many gods - not just Horus who has few if any of the connections with Jesus that Murdock claims.

It's the biggest JOKE in the

It's the biggest JOKE in the world to try and use the bible to prove the bible is true!  LMAO!!

Let's use EVERY religious book to prove that SAME religion is true! Then EVERY religion on earth is true!

Since there is NO mention of the Jesus of the bible outside of the bible that itself is enough reason to say there is AT LEAST a good chance he is simply a mythical concoction that was created to simply help spread the religion.

Remember even the earliest historical character simply referred to Jesus as some who lived in the PAST i.e. no one EVER laid eyes on this Jesus!!
