That's fine as we generally don't align ourselves with people who would assume to know our political views without asking. 
Left leaning policy and ideology is quite contrary to your independent thought. Atheism and left wing politics should not be bed fellows; this is just the polar opposite of what the right is doing with Christianity.

What it means to a true free thinker...gotta be apolitical I guess. That liberalism is the ideology of free thinkers is just as big a scam as Christianity is.

After all most of the shit heads that rise to the top when you take a look back in history, were in fact Communists or socialists, both pillars of leftist ideals. I am not trying to have a political debate with you, I am just expressing my disappointment that I am alienated even among other atheist groups because they are always busting at the seams with Vegan, pinko lefty types.
I see vegans and lefty types on many atheist forums, this doesn't mean I always agree with them.
Any suggestions on a place where this isnt the case?
An apolitical atheist should be able to get along on just about any atheist forum. Now if your hiding behind a veil of support for George Bush right now, with this line of thought, then you wouldn't be able to get along at almost all atheist boards. If you're truly independent or apolitical, then I'd suggest lose the tendency to assume, and join our forum at rationalresponders.com.
I cant be alone here. An independentor at the very very least a centrist atheist organization...
There's a ton of people just like you. I'd think all three core members of the Rational Response Squad are very close to center. Actually two of us lean a little further right then center, and if we had to pick a party would classify ourselves as Libertarians. It just so happens all three of us have a severe distaste for Dubya... I'd hope you do to.

there is a misconception out there. the left/right paradigm is a political scheme. The two parties disagree mainly on social issues and that is it. The rhetoric is only rhetoric. Both parties, for example, unabashadly support Israel..why? Money..the binding force that holds all politicians together. He is in fact making assumptions, only because he's assuming that some of teh anti xtian right wing discussions here mirror leftist talks...assumptions...or brainwashing from the media...either way..if he's going to be "closed" minded because he thinks this is a "leftist" group, then he's the one who will alienate himself.....obviously he doesn't know Yellow too well.

And as I say over and over, I am right of center on almost every political survey I take. However, I liked both Clinton and Gore leaps and bounds more than their Republican counterparts which is something that is not generally asked in the political surveys.

I happen to be about as far to the left as a person can possibly be, myself.
In my personal experience, I find atheists to be very hard to pigeon-hole politically. I think this is simply because of the critical thinking skills required for atheism, they don't tend to be single issue voters.
The paper read yesterday, the earth exploded, nobody noticed the passing of this hapless planet.
