Well, it could have been worse

I think I'm going to take this as a good start.  At least they didn't make the Bible a mandatory requirement.  I still think it shouldn't have any place in public schools but...

It is beyond my comprehension that people could even consider the Bible 'historical'.

I would agree it has

I would agree it has historical value only in the way it has influenced history (mostly bad.)
