Same old Christmas bullshit

http://news.yahoo.com/atheist-skip-church-christmas-billboards-offensive-free-speech-170255553.html

Ok, several things:

1. OF COURSE atheists are "specifically targeting." Why shouldn't they, if they want to? Don't Christians "specifically target" non-Christians with their missionary activities? Am I not being targeted when I pass a billboard in TN that reads HELL IS REAL, AND it's right next to a porn shop? Is that not targeting?

"Free speech" does not mean "non-targeted speech." In fact, free speech means I have the right to piss someone off if I want, and he has the right to respond. There is NO SUCH THING as the "right" not to be offended.

2. Atheists are not targeting something they don't believe exists. They're targeting religious institutions and what they stand for, not God. Religious institutions clearly exist.

3. The phrase "happy holidays" has been around a long time. That's because this is the "holiday season" and there are more holidays than Christmas. The "holidays" in question traditionally begin with St. Nicholas Day (Dec. 6), go through Christmas and New Year, and end with Epiphany (Jan. 6), a.k.a. "Old Christmas." It's not a bloody "humanist conspiracy" to wipe Christmas off the map, just as "Xmas" isn't "x-ing out Christ." The "x" is actually the Greek letter chi, which is the first letter of "christos."

Besides, just try putting "Merry Christmas" into the old Dean Martin song "Happy Holidays." Doesn't have the same ring, does it?

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

 If the hypocrisy were any

If the hypocrisy were any thicker on your part you could cut it with a knife.

I agree with you on this. To me getting upset over that billboard is nothing more than them saying "It is ok when I do it, but not ok when atheists do it".

So all your bluster here on this website about my word choice and tactics ammounts to the same thing.

You've cried like a baby on par with their crying.

BINGO!

I've been attacked for saying shit like season greetings and my xmast cards say season greetings because I have to deal with owners from all over the world who don't give two shits about christianity. Many are muslims or hindu, sprinkle in some atheists.

Targeting something requires an agenda, planned out, like an attack. Most people who target things, like the christian asshole who went to africa to convince the governments to outlaw gays, then made it punishable by death are the people who make me barf. Where is the christianity in that act?

any form of extremism, except mine, is faulty.
