This is bollocks. There's a movement within the British media to make YouTube more accountable for the video content available within it. This is part of the reaction to the brutal and apparently random shooting of a young kid up in Liverpool. Gangs there have for some time been posting videos that glorify gang violence and criminal activity. Further to this, there is a campaign building to force YouTube to review its screening process as more and more videos get posted of kids beating the shit out of one another.

YouTube & Google have repeatedly stated that they have every faith in their current process, despite various failed attempts by journalists and others to have content that involves violence against children by children removed by flagging as inappropriate.

I really liked Google when they came onto the scene. Their non-conformist business plan and non-corporate ideals fit very well with my own, but it would seem that since going public, the MBA's voices are getting louder as they do have to comply with US legislation dictating that a company should be run with the financial wellbeing of its shareholders as its priority as opposed to its customers and the general public.

Thus the threat of a copyright suit against them by a bunch of bullshit-mongering bible-bashers appears to wield more leverage than a secular campaign by journalists and concerned parents.

Methinks a lawmaker there needs to review Nash's Equilibrium (or watch that Russel Crowe movie if math & economics are too boring. There's no breast action in the flick, but it's still watchable.)

It is incredibly dissapointing that YouTube & Google are beginning to conform to the same model as Hollywood. Unfortunatley, it is the most profitable way to squeeze a mass market for money, and as a publicly traded company, they are legally obliged to make as much profit as they can.

What we as individuals need to do is to use the social mechanisms at our disposal to counter the lust for profit and give absolute capitalism a conscience. It's a struggle that has been waged throughout the history of Western democracy and long may it continue, so post post post post.

Nice post Sadzeater.  In our next video we'll be mentioning some other video sites worthy of trying.  In addition to that we will have a never heard story and explanation as to why the Richard Dawkins account was banned, and why it is not back up.  You will become extremely suspicious of a bias at youtube that is anti-atheist. 

I can't release details yet as we wait for clearance from one person.  But we'll have the story soon in video form to be copied everywhere again.  

So I just got here by way of a link on Slashdot - they discussed this last week (or maybe it was Engadget?) about how people don't realize they can submit Counter Notice and remove YouTube as a mediator in these little DMCA 'spats'. I was just wondering if the RRS had submitted Counter Notice so that they could get their videos back up? If everything is really Fair Use in the videos, it should be a null issue.  It's a thought. I don't know everything that's going on, but since I didn't see something along the lines of 'Well, the videos are back up, but we need to approach this from a legal angle now' instead of all the 'we should nail these christians to the cross they worship' talk that I AM seeing...

This just makes me want to puke!  They really have gone too far on this one; I do believe this is war, my friends.  Those fundie sickos really do deserve to go to their own hell, if they believe in it so much.

 They have so much faith in their invisible friend in the sky, but that faith is so flimsy that they seem to be afraid that it will break if they so much as catch a whiff of another point of view in the world.  That's what really pisses me off.

Where did you hear that they won't file a lawsuit?

Also, putting your links in the sidebar wouldn't go with the theme of the video. The video was about who to contact to get help in exposing CSE. If the video was a "thank you" for all the support and you guys weren't mentioned, then I'd join you in your anger, but in this case there was no reason to mention you. After all, everyone already knows you're helping out, so there's no reason to contact you guys to get you to help.

Advice: You should take up your issues with ExtantDodo privately. If a division is seen, especially over something so small, it will not help anyone or anything, and in fact, will give our opponents strength. TogetherForPeace just made a video trashing you guys. If he saw this, he'd have more ammunition, and he has a large audience. I know he's not the only one trying to turn people against the RRS. And, again, I think we should all fire off a few e-mails to the groups they linked. I wrote one that I copy-and-pasted to all groups they linked, and it wouldn't take long for any one of us to do so for ourselves. While wired and slashdot are good places to get some internet publicity, I think PFAW and UNESCO would push this into the mainstream, and get all videos replaced, as well as the last free Hovind put in jail, very fast.

Two sources had said they heard he wasn't willing to sue because their names would get out there. When I sued Geller, I knew my name would get out there, and I had said the principle of this issue was too important to be silent for. Then principle of it this time feels larger than before, and let's be honest, Extant Dodo faces less threat than I do.

That would be us. Without our site the public outcry for this wouldn't have gotten this far. People were segmented last week when the take down notices came, we gathered them up, made sure they all knew we'd be working together, and extantdodo is mysteriously off our allies list.

Our site is in fact the place to get the most up to date info on this case and what to do about it, including massive resposting of relevant videos which expose CSE activity. Three videos released over the next week or two will be offered for repost here, and will help ensure the media picks this story up. Yes, we've got media calls already.

He lists the EFF on the list. Does he not realize that they are already representing me? Adding them to the list does little good, unless you're goal is to clog their system with unneccesary phone calls. I of course am not at liberty to discuss private conversations with my lawyer or I could give more info. (which is the same way that this has been from the get go, and will continue to be).

I think our harshness came a few hours ago at the hands of sleep deprivation, I just slept an hour, and started my day, so I hope that's not still the case. I was careful to mention that I respect the past work of extant dodo in a seperate place that I spoke up.

If he/they in fact want CSE taken to task on our finds, then we are needed. We are helping by spreading the word about these videos and offering a repository for people to download them and reupload them. Great advice. I did in fact contact him/it and I've received no response. Letting it get out in the public, hoping he'd read it is my only means of knowing he/she will get the message. (whoa... irony)

I would love to remove all of the negative statements I made about Extantdodo over the last few days, just as soon as he responds to this letter by telling me that he'll sue, and adds me to the list of people who are protecting him and dozens of others on his "links" section.

You may be right. In our case however we get told often that our agenda is simply anti-religious. I think it at least says a little something that we have integrity to call out atheists here and there as well. I try to do it in only extreme circumstances, when the atheist is making such a large mistake, that it warrants criticism. This is a mistake of incompetent proportions.

I don't think he'll be making another video about this issue. When I saw his video on this issue, I realized he had no clue as to the facts of this story. I called him and spoke with him for an hour. He was surprised to hear this call was genuine, and not being recorded. This was part of my fight for people like ExtantDodo. I called Jack, a man who I don't like, who admittedly looks to discredit us anyway he can, and spoke for an hour about this issue to him.

I essentially had debunked his whole video and walked away the bigger man when I told him he could leave the video there, I wasn't looking for an apology, etc. I merely wanted him to know how wrong he was, so he didn't make the mistake in subsequent videos.

This division I don't think is one he'll report on.

Could everyone start firing off emails to extantdodo on youtube imploring them to counter notify and be prepared to counter sue if need be? That's the proper means of attack here. Counter Sue!
