Jesus loves even you [you respond]

Here's a little poem left for me and other non believers on the message board of our little town.

Quote:

you don't have to believe in Jesus at all my friend
But maybe you will before your life comes to and end
Let me tell you about this man that you speak of
If not for him we might not have love
But I know In my heart he gave his life for me
As he shed his own blood upon that tree
And I know with out him today in my life
I don't know if I could carry on this fight
For life is a battle here on this earth
That why we must always put Jesus first
You just go on if you want don't believe
But I think I will and one day I'll be free
Free from all pain no sickness I'm told
And one day I know I'll walk streets of pure gold
I'll have a mansion to sleep in at night
In a place of no darkness just a shining light
So if you are not believer god loves you to
Remember on that tree he died even for you
So why not give this man called Jesus a try
He will not fail you and open your eyes
Can't you just see him as he hung on that cross
So me and you had that chance not to be lost
Can't you hear him say Father forgive them they know not what they do
As his Blood ran to the ground for yes even you
But I'm just a poem writer and a believer of him
It take the the love of Jesus to change hearts of men
A poem or no words will never make you believe
You must ask forgiveness on bended knees
But the only way you'll know this is really true
Just ask him for forgiveness I beg of you
Look deep in your heart and happiness you will find
How can you find out the truth if you don't try just one time
But if you don't care to you have a free heart
But don't tell me not to believe if your not even willing to start

give me some good responses to post over there.

Haha... When will they ever

Haha... When will they ever stop? Never? Well, that sucks for them... We know the truth... I hate how we can't do anything about it.

It feels like the Matrix. I'm a teenager, I think I'll start trying to turn kids and other teens into atheists from theists... It'll help them out in the long run and they won't grow up full of complete bullshit.

Am I right?

You took the time to write

You took the time to write a poem? I'm impressed. But I'm not impressed by your ignorant generalizations. I came to the conclusion there was no God after becoming fully versed in modal logic, molecular biology and philosophy. I concluded that God was an ontological impossibility, a logical contradiction, and a nonsensical presupposition.

I have shut off my mind and thought to myself that surely if God did exist, he would show himself to me, like a reasonable being. He has not. Jesus is dead. I'm glad you don't embrace believe-or-burn doctrine like some of the exclusivists I have met, but I can assure you I have given deep thought to my beliefs. So you have no right to tell me this based on the presupposition that I have not, which is false.

"Physical reality” isn’t some arbitrary demarcation. It is defined in terms of what we can systematically investigate, directly or not, by means of our senses. It is preposterous to assert that the process of systematic scientific reasoning arbitrarily excludes “non-physical explanations” because the very notion of “non-physical explanation” is contradictory.

Okay then, bye!

Quote:
If not for him we might not have love

So everyone before christianity could never love?

Quote:
So if you are not believer god loves you to

No point in telling me about him then

Quote:
Remember on that tree he died even for you

Well, if he is dead... that would... uh... kinda suck for you. you know, with all the time you devote to someone who has passed on.

Quote:
He will not fail you and open your eyes

He can't fail, he isn't real!

Since when does God

Since when does God experience the biochemical phenomenon known as love, useful to enhance relative fitness?

An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.

I have a bit of a problem with your choice of words here. Surely you don't mean that you have shut off your mind to the possibility of a God? I would hate to think that the theists are right when they accuse us of being closed minded. Can you please explain what you mean?

Just substitute "The Flying

Just substitute "The Flying Spaghetti Monster" wherever it says "Jesus."

Why should I care if

Why should I care if someone I don't know tells me that someone I never met loves me?

you don't have to believe in Jesus at all my friend

No we don't, no we don't

Quote:
But maybe you will before your life comes to and end

No we won't, no we won't

Quote:
Let me tell you about this man that you speak of

A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed?

Quote:
If not for him we might not have love

Oh,you mean Barry White? We know he's dead.

Quote:
But I know In my heart he gave his life for me

I would admit, that the thought is quite generous

Quote:
As he shed his own blood upon that tree

But the evidence that this happened is worse than horrendous

Quote:
And I know with out him today in my life

This sounds like a line from A Celine Dion song

Quote:
I don't know if I could carry on this fight

When life gets you down, two words -- "beer bong!"

Quote:
For life is a battle here on this earth

The battle would be easier, if rational thought prevailed

Quote:
That why we must always put Jesus first

First on the list of "Characters in Fairy Tales."

Quote:
You just go on if you want don't believe

We definitely will, and thanks for your permission!

Quote:
But I think I will and one day I'll be free

Poor sap, dogma has beaten you into submission.

Quote:
Free from all pain no sickness I'm told

The blind leading the blind, but it really doesnt matter,

Quote:
And one day I know I'll walk streets of pure gold

You can do this right now, at the home of MC Hammer.

Quote:
I'll have a mansion to sleep in at night

I didnt know the bible had mentioned such wealth

Quote:
In a place of no darkness just a shining light

And nuts to the porphyria-sufferers' good health!

Quote:
So if you are not believer god loves you

Poetry skills are something you lack

Quote:
to Remember on that tree he died even for you

Ending two lines with the same word? Hack!

Quote:
So why not give this man called Jesus a try

Most of us did, and then we awoke

Quote:
He will not fail you and open your eyes

He's failed with 2/3rd's the earth's population, stroke.

Quote:
Can't you just see him as he hung on that cross

As much as I see Santa riding on his sleigh

Quote:
So me and you had that chance not to be lost

One of us is lost alright, have you hugged a muslim today?

Quote:
Can't you hear him say Father forgive them they know not what they do

No, not right now, I'm watching Planet Earth

Quote:
As his Blood ran to the ground for yes even you

Ah, the christian guilt ploy. It has no worth.

Quote:
But I'm just a poem writer and a believer of him

You're terrible at one, and foolish for the other

Quote:
It take the the love of Jesus to change hearts of men

And your grammar is as bad as your rhyming, brother.

Quote:
A poem or no words will never make you believe

The first thing you got right, give yourself a hand,

Quote:
You must ask forgiveness on bended knees

Like the priests tell the altar boys, and the boys in the band.

Quote:
But the only way you'll know this is really true

You wont convert me, by quoting Spandau Ballet

Quote:
Just ask him for forgiveness I beg of you

Beg all you want, I have all day.

Quote:
Look deep in your heart and happiness you will find

Thank you, Yoda, are you almost done?

Quote:
How can you find out the truth if you don't try just one time

Say that in a mirror, and think about this one.

Quote:
But if you don't care to you have a free heart

No gods, no masters. No freer words than that,

Quote:
But don't tell me not to believe if your not even willing to start

We started, and finished, and you're still running laps.

Beautiful.  As it stands

Beautiful.  As it stands there, it's like a conversation in a poem (call and response, if you would) with am a/b/a/b/c/d/c/d (etc) rhyme scheme (sort of).

A poem about Jesus, not quite enough to delude

A poetic response, for which I was in the mood

Shaun

I'll fight for a person's right to speak so long as that person will, in return, fight to allow me to challenge their opinions and ridicule them as the content of their ideas merit.

I'm pretty sure he meant shutting his mind from logic.

"But don't tell me not to

"But don't tell me not to believe if your not even willing to start"

Oh but that is how I started. I was indoctrinated to christianity throughout the whole of my most influential & critical years. I am not telling anyone what to believe, just free up some mind enough to ask some frank questions.

I sometimes think, therefore I am intermittent

Guys, isn't this strickingly simular to religion.  I mean, this is something that is quoted among this group like scripture.  And what of the person that says how they want to "take time out of there day to convert theists to athiests".  Kinda seems like you guys really are your own religion.

I don't mean to start a debate... I'm just giving my opionion.  All I know is that nine out of ten people on this site are very nasty with there comments and it seems to say a lot.

And Elmer Fudd loves you.

And Elmer Fudd loves you. Don't think about it. Just believe. Search your feelings, you know it be true.

Oh, I didn't notice this was an old thread. Blech.

OK, this is just sick. A guy dies and you're saying he did it for me? Jeez...sounds like I have some serious guilt coming my way.

mindspread wrote:

Now you're just stretching things. Nothing in this world indicates you're going to sleep in a mansion unless you're thinking of breaking & entering. Jesus wouldn't approve of that, now would he?

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, but Jesus isn't the only person to forgive. Also, what's up with the graphic violence in this poem?

Learn to be a freethinker for yourself. It's not up to me to try to convert you, just like it's not up to you to change my mind. Cool

Twinkies and Big Mac's sell

Twinkies and Big Mac's sell well and I am quite sure many Christians shouted "Amen" while reading the tub of lard that poem was.

A rose by any other name? A clechi by any other name has the same credibility.

Ok, so this person wrote a poem about cheerleading about their favorite super hero in the sky. So have countless others by all religions.

I am supposed to buckle under the pressure of a poem, merely because someone mentioned Jesus?

I am a poet myself. I look at poems like photography. It takes alot of prints ending up in the garbage can before you actually get one that is a gem.

This was a Twinkie, not a Rolex. I have written plenty of "Twinkie" poems myself.

Art is subjective no doubt. If this appeals to people, I am not suprised. I have my critics too.

You can believe in Jesus if

You can believe in Jesus if you like my friend

If it helps you get through your life to its end

Let me tell you about this man that you speak of

If not for him we might have had love

But I know In my heart he took life from me

As he shed other's blood for his holy See

And I know with out him today in my life

I can move on and I don't have to fight

For life is a joy here on this earth

When you put those that you love first

You just go on if you want to believe

But I think I won't and that makes me free

Free from all hate and madness I'm told

And today's when I'll walk those streets of pure gold

I'll have a nice house to sleep in at night

With the woman I love holding me tight

So if you are a believer god may love you

Just show that respect to othes too

You can give this man called Jesus a try

And watch and wait as life passes by

While you imagine him on that cross

Counting your days as they're totally lost

For we know more or less what we do

And that's more than is said for yes even you

But I'm just a poem writer and don't believe in him

It takes open eyes to change hearts of men

A poem or no words will never make you believe

You must rise up and question from bended knees

But the only way you'll know this is really true

Is to think for yourself I beg of you

Look deep in your heart and happiness you will find

How can you find out the truth if you don't try just one time

But if you care you can have a free heart

But don't tell me to believe if your not even willing to start

Freedom of religious belief is an inalienable right. Stuffing that belief down other people's throats is not.
