NEW TITLE: Richard Dawkins agrees to appear!

I suggest you attempt to get Richard Dawkins on the show. he's an excellent documentary maker, author, and speaker.

Oh, and I just registered as a bright.

He'll be on someday. Looking at Sam Harris as the next name of that caliber.

Oh, and I just registered as a bright.

Absolutely we need him on.

Oh and me too, although Bright seems very similar to Rationalist.

Yeah, but Richard Dawkins has a British accent. That automatically means he's smarter right? Laughing out loud

Sam Harris is great. I've read about half of The End of Faith (the semester started and I have no personal time anymore). That book is great.

Ray Comfort has an accent. And he's an idiot.

I guess if he picked up a southern accent his face would implode. That accent is the only thing keeping his one-cornered face from chrusing the void where normal people store their brain.

What about Kent Hovind? (sorry cbenard)
He needs to get slapped, and have all his dishonesty burned, and if you might, either make sure he sticks to BIOLOGY when discussing things, or bring an astronomer/physicist so when he does try to trail off into that you can 'knock him back down to earth'. Smiling
Though I havent heard his debates, would it be wrong to say he likes to go 1 on 1 with someone who specalises, bring up facts of an unrelated fields to make the other person look like they don't know anything and that he wins?

I concur completely with the richard dawkins idea. The man is so excellent at getting the ideas of rationality and evolution through, he'd make an excellent guest.

Hey, I just noticed

Hey, I just noticed Professor Dawkins is coming to Philadelphia November 2nd. If one of you guys are planning to attend the event maybe you could try to talk to him about appearing on the show in person.

We'll be there. We've recently sent him an email requesting his presence on our show to coincide with his Nov. 2nd visit and haven't received a response. We've sent the email a second time now after no response the first time.

Here is a copy of the letter...

Quote:

Dear Dr. Dawkins,

My name is Richard ********** [Razorcade to RRS readers]. I am a great admirer of your work, and have read many of your books. You have inspired me more than any other author, and have given me direction for the first time in my life. In particular, the letter to your daughter in ‘A Devil’s Chaplain’, touched me deeply and helped me to construct a similar letter to my daughter after a difficult situation arose within my family.

The reason for my letter is that I am currently a co-host of an Internet Radio Program, called The Rational Response Squad, and we are committed to fighting irrationalities all over the world. We currently have an affiliation with The Infidel Guy, a show in which you recently appeared. Our show airs directly after his and we have a long standing relationship together. Additionally, we have worked closely with Sam Harris, Brian Flemming, and Richard Carrier, and represent the fastest growing atheist community on the internet. I think it is possible that our group symbolizes your goals more so than any other on the Net. We have been greatly received by the public, as they have responded positively to our style of politeness while openly calling religion irrational, successfully accomplishing this task on a program also attached to many activist projects. You can get an idea of just how successful we’ve been by looking at our myspace profile at: http://www.myspace.com/rationalresponse

As you are traveling to our lovely city, Philadelphia, in November, we humbly request that you grace us with your presence on our program. We would only need you for a couple of hours, as the quality of the show is greatly enhanced by conducting interviews from within the studio. The Free Library of Philadelphia is only twenty minutes from our location and we could provide all transportation. We would be willing to pay for any extra accommodations as needed. You should also know that we pride ourselves on our success in assisting others who share our goals. We will promote your books very heavily surrounding your appearance, as the endorsement of rational authors is one of our specialties.

If an in studio interview is not possible, a phone interview would be the next best thing, and we would be willing to conduct one at any time. This is not a live show, and the majority of the questions would be posed by the hosts of the show, and the members of the website. Of course we could provide you with some sample questions for your approval.

Should you need a reference, you can contact Richard Carrier at ************ who recently spent a weekend in our studio to record eight shows with us.

You can contact me by phone, at 215-***-****, or by email at, ************@**********.

Thank you,

Richard ********

Ok, are you sitting down? Ok, now stand up. Ok, sit down again! Are you sitting down? Ok, stand up and go to the fridge, and grab a celebratory alcoholic beverage, and then sit down again.

(Waiting for you to come back from fridge.)

Ok, are you back? Are you sitting down now? Good, stay seated....

Richard Dawkins just agreed to an interview with us. All that's left is the details, logistics, and particulars.

More details slowly being

More details slowly being worked out...

It would seem Professor Dawkins will be appearing in "studio" for a live webcam discussion in our usual format of prerecording and then editing out kinks for a future broadcast. We're looking at Nov 2 around 4:30-5pm est or the day before at an unspecified time. More details developing soon. As final details are made, we'll post a topic about it.

As I understand it this will actually be listed as an official tour stop on his schedule!!

And I might actually be able to donate to the cause too...

He opted out of the College lecture, because he really wanted to appear on your show, he's thrilled about what you guys are doing."

you know...I think this only

you know...I think this only bolsters our position. I'm fucking tired of apathetic fools. All people do is bitch and complain....never do they try to achieve any change. This is why I support full heartedly the RRS. The RRS is workign at making a difference...organizing, spreading a coherent, poignant message.

Dawkin's appearance on the show, as well as Sam Harris and Richard Carrier, only goes to show that the leaders of the humanist/atheist movement support the RRS. This is big. This gives us more grounding....let's keep this going.

You guys, everyone here, rocks.

OK. Just watched it. I just can't get over the doggie style and messed up boobs. I am still a little tripped out because I have been so obsessed with everything Dawkins lately that it's weird to see that someone would put him in that light. Oh well, it's just a joke. I can laugh. I completely agree. Ohhh to see one of my heroes shown in that light... damn... but it's South Park and was bound to happen.
They went easy on atheism the last time around. Its about time we got our fair stomping, I'm just sorry it had to be at the expense of Dawkins. I will grovel at his feet forever in an attempt to make amends for what SP did.... well not really grovel... its the thought that counts right??? Heart
I really hope he has a damn good sense of humor.

After the shock wore off, it was really funny. I shudder to think of what pt 2 will be :shudder:

:shudders again:

And all this because the creaters of SP didnt like his latest book. Now I think Im going to have read it sooner than I had planned.

I tried to watch your show yesterday but I think the firewall at work was blocking it, or there was some other gremlin so I couldn't connect. I was extremely disappointed. Sad You said the show will air at a later date. Will it be just audio, or video too? Will you put it up on YouTube or Google Video?

Something that really struck

Something that really struck a cord with me on yesterday's show was when Dawkins asked why religious people are so violent or angry when you don't agree with them. (and) It's not like someone would get mad if you didn't agree what car was the best.
This sentiment really hits the nail on the head for me. We were all born in this world with basically the same tools for thought. No one necessarily is even capable of fully agreeing with another person about the universe and issues we concern ourselves with. Ex. I am vegan and I know a lot of people are totally against that. But I find reason to be so and will defend that. If you are against my being a vegan then so be it but there's no reason to hate me or whatever. I know exactly what he meant by that statement because I have been attacked for not believing in god. (In a bar, no less).
I don't know if I am really trying to make a point here, I just wanted to acknowledge the whole "if you're views are different than mine then let's fight" attitude. I don't mind debates but it's when I start feeling threatened or like the person resorts to irrational behavior then I feel like nothing gets accomplished.
