favorite cd's and/or bands
I realize that I could easily go to a forum on a website dedicated to music, but I am more interested in this particular community's interests. I'm not looking for a debate, just looking to see what other people listen to here when they're not participating in the fight for rationality.
Radiohead - The first two (pablo honey and the bends) were good stuff when they came out, but everything since has been brilliant. I look at Amnesiac and Kid A as basically something that could have been a double album, but they are both solid. Personally, OK computer is my favorite, but Hail To the Thief is a close second.
Dredg - All three of their albums are awesome, catch without arms is obviously them trying to go a little more mainstream, but they do it splendedly.
Tool - Still getting into 10,000 days, but Aenima and Undertow are staples of my playlist.
Aesop Rock - Labor Days and Bazooka Tooth are my favorites, but I have yet to dislike anything he has done.
Atmosphere - Godlovesugly and Seven's Travels
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Queens of the stone age - Rated R and Songs for the Deaf
Helmet - Betty and Meantime
Plenty more, but I don't want to make reading this cumbersome by taking up space.

Dude, that's wierd, I was just going to post this topic.
MY TOP 5 FAV BANDS:
(1.) Avenged Sevenfold
(2.) Rise Against
(3.) Dragonforce
(4.) Crush 40
(5.) Disturbed
Ha ha ha... I have yet to meet a person who agree with my strange musical tastes... Most people hate at least one band on that list.
My fav album has to be "City of Evil" by Avenged Sevenfold.
And, for the record, Rise Against just released their latest album TODAY! "The Sufferer and the Witness". It's great!! Check it out!
Wilson: "We were afraid that if you found out you solved a case with absolutely no medical evidence you'd think you were God." House: "God doesn't limp."
I heard the new rise against single on the radio. its pretty good stuff. That single from the new dragonforce cd is awesome.

Oh, and spot on about the SW. I like to pretend that they stopped making music in 1994 and that The Riverdales (the craptacular band they evolved into) never existed.
FYI, Daze Alone was a local ska/punk band based in Wilmington, DE whose members are good friends of mine. You may still be able to download a song or two of theirs here:

Soul Coughing is also a defunct band with a sound that I really cannot describe and quite different from the other bands listed, in a good way. My my screen name is actually from one of their song lyrics. I'm sure you can find plenty of their stuff online as they were quite the underground hit.

Welcome, Caitlin
Perhaps the better question for you would be, what bands don't you like?
Does it suck for you to know that God only loves you because you're afraid he'll kick your ass if you don't believe in him?
I'm assuming it's okay for us Christians to respond, also.

If you like Crass you'd love Conflict. Crass is in the mentor position as far as Conflict is concerned. The difference is that Conflict plays their instruments better and explores the various avenues of music (much like the Clash did).
Check out the "Ungovernable Force" CD by Conflict. You might dig it.

Know Nyarlathotep, No Peace.
Ha ha, seems most of us like metal and punk. Perfect atheist genres!
I listen to a lot of hip hop, tri hop and trance/ambient/industrial/EBM/anything-with-a-frickin'-keyboard-synthesizer music as well.
Usually punk, metal, hip hop, trip hop, industrial and hardcore are the defining music of the atheist. Not that all musicians in those genres are atheists, or all atheists listen to those genres, but the synergy is noteworthy.
