Greetings...

Well, hello I s'pose. I was looking on youtube and discovered this website through the absolute demolition of the CNN report on whether atheists are being discriminated against by Sapient, and was very impressed by it. It's great to see that atheists are finally standing up for their rights and organising themselves into groups which contain power.

My name is Pat, as you've probably guessed. I live one the east coast of Australia, in Brisbane, which is about in the middle. I'm currently in year 12, still attending high school. My interests are fairly limited, but I thoroughly enjoy debating, cricket, and political discussion in any way shape or form.

I'm choosing to post here rather than an Australian forum because I am fascinated by the American religious situation. In Australia, as of the 2004 census, atheism is the largest religious affiliation, if you will. 1.7 million of the 20 odd million are Australians. When I first heard about the number of fundamentalist Christians in the United States I was visibly shocked. My motto is 'subvert the dominant paradigm', and you guys fit right in with that motto.

So anyway, thanks for reading, I look forward to posting more soon.

Intro.

Just wanted to make a short intro. I'm a 57 year old efl teacher living in sunny (??????) Bournemouth, UK.

I was a Roman Catholic for the first twenty years of my life. Actually believed all that crap about sin, confessions, grace, Satan, communion, benediction, confirmation, the Pope being God's representative on earth, heaven, hell, purgatory and limbo!!! I was a deist for about three years then became an agnostic and finally an atheist. I just cannot fathom how people in the 21st century still believe in this imaginary deity! I have been a member of secularity.com for about three years. Anyone from secularity here?

Jack the Lab.

Welcome to two new international members!

It's great having viewpoints from folks that aren't inundated with theists day in and day out.

We're glad to have you both aboard!
