A Synonym for Bullshit: "Faith"

I came across a hilarious new meme at the Richard Dawkins Foundation discussion forum. Credit goes to a poster known as SteveC.

SteveC wrote:

"Faith is a synonym for bullshit."

Don't believe me? Consider the following, but replace "faith" with "bullshit."

He was a man of great faith
he believed it on faith.
he preached a message of faith.
Faith based initiatives.
Faith is the enemy of reason
It was a matter of faith.

etc.

So, if faith is a synonym for bullshit... why shouldn't we use the word faith when we mean bullshit? Just TAKE the word away from the doofuses.

I'm not kidding. If someone is pulling your leg, just say, "Stop talking faith, man."

Oh, man, I stepped in some faith! Now I've got to clean my faithy shoes!

Bush comes on the TV spouting some nonsense? You say to the TV, "What a load of faith! Get off my TV, you moron!"

"Politicians are so full of faith!"

Etc.

I'm sure you can think of more, and I'm serious about this, I faith you not.

You can also replace 'faith' with 'penis size'.

I think the closest

I think the closest equivalent would be "wishful thinking."

Theistic faith is

Theistic faith is unjustified belief, belief based on desire. That's it.

And that's why one man's 'faith' IS another man's bullshit.

"Hitler burned people like Anne Frank, for that we call him evil.
"God" burns Anne Frank eternally. For that, theists call him 'good.'

Oh, come on, all this

Oh, come on, all this administration can rely on is faith.

If you look at the evidence, well, that's a bit scary.

His faith was so big... wait

His faith was so big... wait no that's something else. He uses so much faith I wonder if he has any faith left or if he has to have a team to come up with more.

The defination of this word,

The defination of this word, according to wikipedia.com:

"Bullshit (often abbreviated to BS) is a common expletive. Its meanings include unacceptable behaviour or ludicrously false representations."

So, it does appear that faith is a synonym. Smiling

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. - Seneca

Surely all of you guys have

Surely all of you guys have seen Clerks II, right? I couldn't help but think of the scene where Randall (that's his name, right? brain fart) decides he's taking a word back. I'm not going to spoil it if you haven't seen it, but it gave me a good laugh.

(waiting for chirping crickets)

Atheism isn't a lot like religion at all. Unless by "religion" you mean "not religion". --Ciarin

Man I wanted to see Clerks

Man I wanted to see Clerks II, but too lazy to get out of the house to go see a movie by myself.

You know this could be a great flyer. In most cases all it would do is get people to not accept everything so blindly, but will probably won't affect their faith in the bible much.

Something like:
"Read the following with an open mind about faith...

(things commonly justified by using the word faith, but is obviously bullshit)

Now do all of these sayings still make sense if you replace the word faith with the word bullshit?"

Although we may want to use another word instead of bullshit as they might freak out more over the curse then what we are saying.
