Taking Notes

I've been reading (and listening to, thank you librivox.org) a lot of books lately, and there will be something really striking and relevant and profound I want to remember later; but I lose it, because I have no convenient and reliable way to, as David Allen would say, capture the information. I'm currently using Journler on the Mac (which is buggy and becoming unwieldy), but I'm also interested in systems I can use with my paper notebook. I've looked at the Cornell system, and it's been helpful during the (argh) committee meetings I've tested it in during the last two years. It seems like a lot of research is taking place here, especially with deludedgod and Rook, so this seems like the place to ask. Any tips?
