Can't find any info on this

Does anyone know if there's ever been a study done on the correlation between the invention of the mechanical clock and the rise of organized religion? I've been thinking of doing a study, and can't find any history of any

i'm meaning the mechanical

i'm meaning the mechanical clock.  The first clocks that ticked continously every second.  Remember that the intelligent design is often derived from the example of a watch.

Depending on how you look at

Depending on how you look at it, you could point to anywhere between the 700's and the 1300's for the rise of mechanical clocks. They've had an interesting history. Wiki's got a fairly good article on them.
