Pete Stark Atheist and Soldier Hater on FOX News

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djeGqNVXjZE. Haven't watched it yet, but it looks like they're already trying to smear Pete Stark.

Yep, it's a smear job. I

Yep, it's a smear job. I can just imagine Rupert Murdoch (or one of his croneis) going, "An atheist congressman? We'll have to see what we can do about that! Who's this Pete Stark fellow? Janice, dig up whatever dirt you can on this guy and write a hit-piece on him."

All they could come up with was him using a few possibly objectionable words in his entire career.

FAUX news is about as "fair

FAUX news is about as "fair and balanced" as the KKK is in favor of diversity.

Since I'm in Prague, I only

Since I'm in Prague, I only know about Fox through the internet. Is its influence declining in the US? Is it discredited or do people still watch it?

They are probably just

They are probably just going after him because he's a liberal and an Atheist.  He didn't "cuss out" the nutball any more than when Cheney and Bush threw insults towards other people (Fox Noise remained silent on those instances).

After Stark came out as an Atheist I sent him a campaign donation.  He sent back a handwritten letter.  That's something I've never gotten from congressmen in my own district.

At least the show pointed out that Dow is a guy who is a sore loser and often harasses Stark with nonsense.  Stark was right though.  When some higher ups order the soldiers to torture some prisoners why should it be the soldiers who get blamed and not the ones giving the orders?  Stark voted against a whitewash job to clear Rumsfeld.

It figures the right wing nuts won't be upset about torture but will be upset when a liberal calls for an investigation into the matter.  The Republicans are so embroiled in controversy they are just trying to create some phoney controversy to pin on the liberals.

As a Canadian observer, it seems to be doing far too well for itself. Some Americans are proud to call themselves fox "news" watchers. I shake my head.
