Strange I couldn't find a good video of one exploding
Animal biologists have known about that species for years.
But the evolutionary drive to sacrifice yourself for other members exists, in other species too. Now while not exploding, certan species of bees die after they lose their stinger.
And I also would not go out in the wild and fuck with a lioness or a female gator around their kids.
That species simply evolved to do that to protect the colony.
But even in humans, today we often think about Muslims blowing themselves up, but long ago Japanese Zero's would slam their planes into allies ships and sacrifice themselves too.
Unique form of defense for that species sure, but hardly bizar that other species have different tactics to protect the group.

But they only do this to protect organisms which are genetically very close to themselves. So they are totally racist. These ants need to be trained to not kill just because these other species are different, because there are pleanty of resources for all if all creatures would just learn to share the planet.

You were wowed by this species adaptation, so what? You posted this story as if it were new. It is not new. I had heard about this ant years ago.
Now if you want to say it takes time to officially clasify something that is a different subject, but that is not why you posted this.
And self defense is an adatptation that takes some form in all forms off life. Even trees give off a chemical signal to other trees when threatened by insects.
And even humans will sacrafice themselves for the group. Is it a unique adaptation? Yes, should it surprise anyone? No.
Not to mention we HAVE KNOWN about this particuar species for several years.
You are just pissed because I pointed out that this really wasn't new, as in yesterday new.
