More Democrats, Liberals Believe in Astrology, Spiritual Energy, Yoga, and Reincarnation than Republicans, Conservatives

Kind of shocked, not sure what to think.

Part of me wants to think it has to do with how Jews vote predominantly Democrat, and that Jews have their own whacked out history with astrology, etc.

I don't know.  It's weird.

Roughly one-quarter of adults express belief in tenets of certain Eastern religions; 24% say they believe in reincarnation (that people will be reborn in this world again and again), and a similar number (23%) believe in yoga not just as exercise but as a spiritual practice.

Very good if 24% believe in coming back as something else.  That way, they won't mind when I get out my rolled up newspaper and take them out for being a pest again.

As far as yoga being spiritual, well, I guess I can consider masturbation as a highly beneficial form of cardiovascular health and being "in touch" with my inner self.

So, that isn't a label thing

So, that isn't a label thing that is a species issue. Liberal woo is no different than wright wing woo.

Why is that a surprise? It

Why is that a surprise? It has been a stereotype for a long time that most of the modern woo is leftists while the classical woo like Christianity is primarily righties. In my experience those stereotypes are fairly accurate. I don't think it has any correlation with Jews.

If, if a white man puts his arm around me voluntarily, that's brotherhood. But if you - if you hold a gun on him and make him embrace me and pretend to be friendly or brotherly toward me, then that's not brotherhood, that's hypocrisy.- Malcolm X

because the majority of

because the majority of hippy types are liberal or democrat.

has nothing to do with jews.  jews historically have been at the forefront of rationalist and/or materialist thought in europe.  spinoza basically started biblical criticism.  recall also marx, theodor herzl, moses hess, trotsky, et al.

all religions have astrological traditions, including christianity.  jewish astrology is no more developed or wacky than any other.

of course, the truly rational people are those that don't swallow the democratic bullshit any more than they swallow the republican bullshit.  the democratic party platform is just as mythical as anything more or swift ever wrote.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

Yes it does. Religion is just superstition with large numbers. Woo is zygote superstition wanting to grow up and get money and weapons.

Superstition is superstition, old or new, left or right, big or small. But only the ones with power get to inflict the damage.

It's worth pointing out that the fact that jews are sometimes called jews merely because their parents were jewish leaves quite a bit of room here for confusion.

“A meritocratic society is one in which inequalities of wealth and social position solely reflect the unequal distribution of merit or skills amongst human beings, or are based upon factors beyond human control, for example luck or chance. Such a society is socially just because individuals are judged not by their gender, the colour of their skin or their religion, but according to their talents and willingness to work, or on what Martin Luther King called 'the content of their character'. By extension, social equality is unjust because it treats unequal individuals equally.” "Political Ideologies" by Andrew Heywood (2003)
