NASA unveils next Mars mission

Shit. Opportunity is still going after all these years, Curiosity just landed and hasn't even started its mission yet, and already they've got the next mission in production. Awesome.

Quote:
NASA this week announced that the next mission to the Red Planet will blast off in 2016 via InSight.
The goal of the InSight mission will be to dig deep - literally. InSight will charged with drilling into the Martian topsoil to essentially take Mars' temperature and, hopefully, gain valuable knowledge about planetary development.
InSight - short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport - is currently scheduled to launch between March 8-27, 2016 and land on Mars on Sept. 20, 2016. Surface operations will last approximately 720 days, with InSight sending back its first findings by Oct. 2016.

Minor editing to concentrate on the topic by myself.
