The Death of Two

As I struggle for breath,
an unknowable terror grips me.

I grasp for support, but nothing holds me.
I fight its clasp, but its intensity only grows.
I try to hide, but it consumes me from within.

I know that I am caught,
my struggles quiet,
but this unknown fear lingers on.

My breath grows faint,
and waves of stillness beckon.

Just as my final breath leaves me,
fear ceases,
pristine stillness engulfs my life.

And in the eternally seamless,
the gap vanishes.
