Wow! After the last onion thread got derailed by humorless people, I find myself having a point to make.
Is it one giant hole or lots of smaller holes?
Either way, money is going down the hole. But the next few times that you go to the grocery store, save your receipts. After a month, go over them line by line and tell me how much cash you shoved down some hole.
Sure, we all need razor blades. Yet if you look at a month old register tape, can you actually sat why you needed the expensive ice cream? Do you buy the top shelf breakfast cereal or the stuff near the floor where you get three times as much for half the cash?
I would bet that the government could save quite a bit of cash with similar attention to the small costs.
