This is how it works.

This seems to be a typical story of childhood indoctrination and believe out of fear.  Interestingly, it obviously supposed to mean something different for X-tians....  but I simply fail to understand how you can believe in this .... [kind of stories] after your teenage years.

By the way, happy easter!

... these NATIONAL holy moly stories make me sick Sunday mornings....

Happy Pagan Holiday to you too.

I thought it was a nice story... got all misty-eyed there at the end.

I wondered though, if when Auntie was 'nabbing' books from her job if she wasn't actually 'stealing' them instead?

When I read stories like

When I read stories like this, it becomes apparent to me that the religious experience was due more to their own desire to please those around them and a feeling of artificial euphoria brought on an environment that was tailor made for this type of delusion. It's much the same way casinos use music, color, and careful lighting to create an environment that is conducive to gambling away your life savings. My brother in law and his wife are Pentecostal and they of course raise their children as such. I have a very hard time biting my tongue about their incessant indoctrination routine which includes attending church three times per week for several hours at a time and special church outings and events all of the time. It's all designed to segregate them from from the rest of society and encourage them to give every spare dime to the church. The other day I saw my niece proclaim on facebook that her little brother had experienced the holy ghost in the way that the article suggests. The only thing that I can think is that the poor kids don't have a chance. I attended a Pentecostal church as a child and discovered the truth there, but my home environment was quite different than theirs. I wasn't being indoctrinated twenty four- seven.

If you use the bible as your moral compass, chances are you're lost.

When Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" he wasn't saying that people shouldn't be stoned. He was requesting the first pitch.
