Imaginary God, Imaginary Execution

This got my attention.  I'm not sure I believe it,  but wouldn't it be nice?

Paging Dave Henson. You are wanted on the blue courtesy phone.

Gunnar Samuelsson strikes me as a Jehovah's Witness or influenced by them. They say Jesus was not put on a cross but a pole (xylon) and he was the son of God and not God himself.

Religion Kills !!!

Numbers 31:17-18 - Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

His opinion only.

I'm  with ex-minister on this, the scholer was influenced by his personal relgion and very liberal version of historical facts.

The facts are simple enough. The Romans and other cultures used crucifixion for centurys.  The Vertical shafts of the crosses were imbeded and permanent in place. The condemned would carry only the cross pole or board.  If the prisoner refused, they were whipped, if they were still defiant,  so what they were dragged along and someone else lugged the cross beam or pole.

At the site the prisoner had their arms tied or nailed to the cross beam then the cross beam was lifted into place on the permenant shaft   by ropes and pullys.  Some of the shafts had foot rest, some didn't,  it depended on how much you wanted to torture the victom.  Ankles may have been tied together but it would not be nessasary to nail the feet  once the arms are flayed and secured.

Do to the stress created on the heart by dangleing feet the torture would last for hours before death.  If a foot rest was provided the victom could last for days.  To hurry death along guards would stab the abdomin or slice a vain in the heel to let them bleed out.  It was not mercy, it was surity, the guards would be punished if they let down a prisoner who was still alive.

Very interesting, but sometimes, it is just TMI max.

Sorry cj but at least I did not mention When Crassus put down Sparticus' slave revolt he had over 6000 survivers ccrucified on the road to Rome and the bodys were left to rot for months.

Yeah, and I've read about "Vlad the Impaler".  Though technically he didn't crucify anyone.  The book had pretty pictures, too.

Or the bodies and heads left to rot on London's tower or bridge or where ever.  Or the guy executed by firing squad in Utah a week or two ago.  Or the real adventures of Sade.  Or Jeffrey Dahmer.  I think I will go out where the sun is shining for a change.
