AuntB93 is here.

If you are on Yahoo! Answers or Multiply or any of several other sites, you may know my name.  I would like to connect up all my various freethinking friends.  This looks like a good place to make the attempt.

I am a 62-year-old widow, I live in University City, St. Louis County, Missouri.  http://www.ethicalstl.org  I moved here about three years ago, a year after my beloved committed suicide on December 16, 2005.  We were living in Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California at that time, and after Steve died I needed a lower cost of living, so I came here.  I don't regret it.  U. City is a lovely place, not too expensive, ethnically diversified, basically pretty progressive politically, and quite friendly.  http://www.ucitymo.org

I'm a member of the Ethical Society of St. Louis, the largest in the U.S.  Yes, there are more members in New York, but they have more than one location.  If you're interested in a non-theistic religious community, you might check out the Ethical Union.  http://www.aeu.org

WELCOME!!

It is always nice to meet up with a true-non believer.  Please post early and often.  St. Louis is nice especially when they lost to my beloved Patriots way back in 2002.   I live in Mississauga Ont. {  Near Toronto }  myself. I look foreward to reading more of your posts.

I Love Canadians!

Apparently Canadians are much more rational about religion than in the States.  My first two answers are from Canadians.  Also, several of my coolest Multiply friends are Canadians.  Now I feel really welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

I am sorry to hear about your recent loss. Sounds like you have a very positive outlook on life and enjoy it in spite of the tremendous hardships that go with it.

Isn't Missouri where all the Mormons believe they will be gathered at some future date? Good to know you are there to help balance the madness.

Missouri Mormons

I had not heard that about Mormons.  But we do get our share of nuts around here.  University City is less crazy than most of the rest of the state.  The woman who ran the Jesus Camp until the expose documentary caused her to shut it down was from west of here.  There are a lot of Christian sponsored billboards along the highways, but the Freedom From Religion Foundation and also one which the Ethical Society supports are challenging that with atheist billboards more recently.  A much smaller percentage, of course, at perhaps 100 to 1, but I'm betting they will be noticed.
