The Higgs and the LHC

Can the Higgs field be proven?

This remains to be seen. But it is nevertheless impressive that they can charge those protons up to 7000 times their resting mass before colliding them. In order to put it into perspective... a uranium atom is only 235 (some times 238...) times the proton mass. Those protons that are circulating in the LHC are not like any other elements anywhere else in the (known) universe! This is the space age of alchemy.

Personally, I am in awe of that machine. It is the sexiest thing ever made by humans.
