Just to be clear about a point that I've been beating to death recently, this video is an excellent introduction to Neoplatonic thought. I'm not even joking. Just replace the long name with "The One". Yup. The One (source of all things) produces Intellect, which gives us Soul, which creates matter, and then the lower-caps versions of intellect and soul, and finally our bodies.
Yeah. That's pre-Christian thought in a nutshell. I use "nutshell" for obvious reasons.
