What's so great about innocence?

So there's a long list of theistic concepts that, if you look at them though a rational eye, fall flat on their face.  One of the concepts that crossed my mind recently is Innocence.  So many seem to think that 'loosing ones innocence' is a bad thing.  We 'fell' from the grace of God when we lost our innocense... but what's the big deal?  A lion is 'innocent', that dosen't keep it from chewing your head off.  A baby is innocent, but imagine the horrors a year old child could do if by some unlikely mutation it were as strong as an adult?  Innocence is just the state of something when it has no controll over its self.

To go beyond your limits you must first find them.

 Yeah.  It's another

Yeah.  It's another theist conflation.  "Innocence" from "the things of the world" is not the same as innocence of a crime.  Being found innocent of wrongdoing is good, of course.  Being inexperienced, on the other hand, has no intrinsic value.

Atheism isn't a lot like religion at all. Unless by "religion" you mean "not religion". --Ciarin

I think they also mean something similar to "ignorance is bliss". In this case, the willful ignorance of the world combined with a comforting fantasy = a sort of happiness.

Never mind that it never really seems to work out that way. Reality intrudes because... well, it's reality. (which leads to the whole "god will test your faith" thing)
