Adobe is now officially anti-consumer

Their latest schlockwave update removed my flashblock plugin.

Be sure and share your thoughts on this.

“A meritocratic society is one in which inequalities of wealth and social position solely reflect the unequal distribution of merit or skills amongst human beings, or are based upon factors beyond human control, for example luck or chance. Such a society is socially just because individuals are judged not by their gender, the colour of their skin or their religion, but according to their talents and willingness to work, or on what Martin Luther King called 'the content of their character'. By extension, social equality is unjust because it treats unequal individuals equally.” "Political Ideologies" by Andrew Heywood (2003)

I've had problem with these

I've had problem with these suckerz too, recently. Suddenly all Youtube videos had no sound. After some searching for help I deleted and reinstalled the Flash Player. It worked, although the program said the installation was unsuccesful.

OK, if you are using

OK, if you are using flashblock, can I assume that you are on a mozilla based browser such as firefox or seamonkey?

If you are, then you also need to be running the “Better privacy” plugin as well. I will not promise that it will prevent flashblock from being Akilled. However, the fact of the matter is that Adobe was officially anti-consumer a long time ago and most people did not know about it. Here is the deal:

Let's say that you also use a cookie blocking plugin of whatever variety. Well, it does what it does and it does not do what it doesn't. Sadly, one of the things that it doesn't do is anything at all about what Adobe has been doing for a couple of years to render your cookie blocking essentially useless.

Adobe pretty much reinvented the whole concept of the cookie but changed the details just enough to bypass what you are doing about the matter. Any and all Adobe software stores cookies in a folder that your anti-cookie system can't find.

Since Adobe products are everywhere and most web sites use at least one Adobe program somewhere (don't forget web sites where even as little as a single page was made in Dream Weaver), you have been accumulating Adobe specific hidden cookies for a while now.

Better Privacy is one of the only programs that can find and kill those Adobe specific cookies. If you don't have it, you should get it.

Interesting Answers, and

Interesting Answers, and intriguing.

But it takes more than tracking cookies to make me even give a shit. Track me all you want, website-hosts! It's no thorn in my side.

Adobe can still kiss my ass, only it takes more than "privacy invasions" to make me give a shit about whatever scummy deals people make behind closed doors.
