I hate religion promoters as much as the next guy, but if I boycotted every show with a religious nut on the cast I wouldn't watch anything.

I still love the way they continually tease religion in general...

If you find out that Kiefer Sutherland, Larry David, Jon Stewart, or Hugh Laurie are espousing fundamentalist beliefs let me know.  As far as I know I watch no programs with religious nuts and I actually don't think it's that hard to do.  The important distinction here is that "I don't know."   In the case of Nancy Cartwright I do know, she decided to use the fame given to her by people like me to catapult some of the most ridiculous religious beliefs out there today.

Once you know someone is like that, it does diminish things.

It always makes me sad when I found out a celeb I like is a religious nut, like if you found out that your favourite uncle thought he was Napoleon and held teaparties for the fairies in your back yard.

Nancy is as much as a dooffus as anyone else with nutcrackery in her superstition. But lets not lose sight of how much the Simpsons HAS and as far as I know STILL pokes fun of religion.

Who could forget these lines:

Ned Flaunders, " Looks like your math is correct, cant let this little doozy get out" Homer proves that god doesn't exist.

Reverend Lovejoy, speaking to Ned after he flipped out calling the Reverend on speed dial after finding out Maggie wasn't baptized, "Ned, isn't there some other religion you could try?"

Lisa as Joan of Ark, god opens the roof of the courtroom and speaks to both rival parties, " I didn't know both of you would be listening" Poking fun at the fact that people claim that god is on their side.

That show has spent tons of time blaspheming fundies. It sucks that Nancy has her own delusions, but that does not detract from the blasphemy of religion the Simpson's show has opened the door for.

The Simpsons could hardly be accused of promoting Scientology because one of it's actors is delusional. I think we'd be hard pressed to boycott any media that hires religious people, much less this cartoon, which has done far more to be critical of pop culture in general, including religion.

If you want to blast Nancy, I am with you. But even nutcases need to earn a living.
