St. Lucie County, FL
– Fire Chief Ron Parrish today issued the following statement:
I’m speaking to you today because a situation has occurred that calls into question the public’s trust in our
responsibility and commitment to provide emergency care to our citizens. It’s an extremely serious matter and
one I find personally disturbing.
Last Friday, September 19, SLCFD responded to a motor vehicle crash incident at the 118 MM of I-95. The
patient was airlifted to a trauma center. After the patient was airlifted, it is alleged one of our firefighters
removed a foot from the accident scene.
As soon as I was made aware of the situation, yesterday morning, we began an internal investigation. That
investigation is still on-going.
Once the investigation is concluded we will be issuing an update to the media.
This is a very serious allegation, and we have an obligation to the public and those involved to investigate it
thoroughly.
