How can I be sure I am donating to "the cause."

I guess it depends what you consider "the cause." We have 3 people who live in a home together (unlike any other activist group I know) and pool our resources so that we may do this as many hours as we can. Ask anyone who knows us, we generally work over 100 hours per week from home. This house was purchased with the help of an atheist investor who believed in us. However our portion of the mortgage is $1,000 and food/expenses/utilities above that are about another $1,200 a month. Kelly works an outside job to help make ends meet, but other than that, we are entirely listener supported. So we need $2,200 in cash per month just to break even. I don't remember a month that I haven't had to dip into my preexisting retirement money in order to make ends meet. It is entirely possible that a cash donation of $100 would go to groceries. Should you not feel that this is part of "the cause" and I assure you, nourishment for our brains is part of the cause, you may want to purchase learning material for us....

Christians, you still have time left, don't give up!

Jesus is the only way, truth & life. If you don't want Him,don't email again. Thanks.
You still have time left! Don't give up on life by crediting everything to God and Jesus. Dedicate yourself to expanding your knowledge of science and reason, and you can find reality before it's too late!

My views on the Ingraham vs Sapient faceoff.
Submitted by God-Bane on January 23, 2011 - 7:02pm.Greetings,
Before I listened to your debate with Laura Ingraham I had never really heard of the woman, so I googled her. I must admit that I found her career resume quite impressive but she is obviously lacking when it comes to the art of argumentation. Here are just four of the diverting and idiotic tactics she used:
1 - She tried to use the work of Christian missionaries as proof that there is a god and as justification for the continuation of Christianity. In my opinion, Christian charity isn't altruistic since they're only doing it because a book tells them that they have to do it in order to make it into Heaven. If a million Christians do charity work based on what a book tells them it's still not as noble as the charity work of ten atheists who do charity work without being nudged by religiosity.
2 - She asked you if you were ever going to get a job, which was a low blow and indicative of the way that Christians will desperately lash out (I thought they weren't supposed to judge people?!) when they find themselves inevitably backed into a corner.

Hello,
Just came upon your website as a possible source for a "Critcal Thinking/Problem Solving class I teach. Regarding you "Blasphemy Challenge" ... how can one blaspheme or damn oneself to hell if he/she does
not believe in any kind of deity?
I think I will be using your site in future terms. Keep up the good work.
Seriously, you teach a class about critical thinking? fucking christ.
You might as well have asked: how can one eat an apple if they believe it's a vegetable?
Your question is ridiculous, and as a teacher you should be embarrassed.
And here are my psychic abilities: I'd be willing to wager a lot of money that you teach at a religious school, not a secular one. And if I'm wrong my follow up guess is that you're Christian, possibly even not a teacher.

For my modest opinion the logo NoGoD (found on this site
www.celebatheists.com) is an absurdity. How can you deny an entity that
does not exist?
sincerely, an atheist
PS sending you this email because I have not found other contacts on the
site in question
My response...
I'm gonna call it now, you're either not very bright, you're a theist, or you're both.

Help! Am I losing my husband, or is he already gone?
Submitted by TheAntiChristina on June 25, 2009 - 8:01pm.Please, I am desperate for anybody's help.
My Husband and I have been married for almost 3 yrs. 6 months after we were married, I started finding all these little religious pamphlets and mini-books and magazines in our house. When I confronted him about them he would blow it off, say he thought a single article was interesting, or claim that someone gave it to him and he just happened to bring it home but that it wasn't really something he was interested in. We moved to a new home a year ago, and I had to do most of the packing while he worked. Wanting to downsize his massive collection of books, I carefully went through them all as I packed. I had to throw away two banana boxes FULL of Christian, Mormon and Jehovah's Witness based so-called self help books. I even found a couple that were how to go about raising your children for Christ. We have two little boys.
Since we began dating, he never mentioned religion in a positive way. Being very open about my non-belief, I talked with him many many times about religion and he always agreed with me on every point we ever discussed. We agreed at the birth of our first son that religion would be something best left out of the home and agreed that our children should be allowed to grow up religion-free and make informed choices as adults.
Basic questions from an open-minded theist
Submitted by mtreat@tx.rr.com on April 13, 2009 - 4:14pm.I have a couple of basic questions and am hopeful that I can get some short, to-the-point responses:
1. Does The Rational Response Squad assert absolute certainty that no "god" exists now or ever? If yes, how do you justify having absolute certainty about this? If no, how do you escape the charge that you also hold a position that you cannot prove empirically? I've seen your working definitions of atheism, theism, agnosticism and reviewed much of your site but saw nothing that addresses this question adequately.

Does it seem weird you spend time on something you don't believe exists?

Subject: RE: [Rational Responders newsletter] Christmas Day Rational Response Squad BroadcastYou guys sure spend a lot of time talking about something you don't
believe exists. Does that seem weird to you?
No. What seems weird is people who spend so much time believing in something that they can't prove exists. What seems weird is people who spend so much time believing in something that doesn't exist.
