Science to the People

I have certain aspects of my political philosophy that will always be rooted deeply in leftist thought.

I do not apologize for this.

I have a short list of basic leftist premises:

1.) Allowing extreme poverty to exist is unethical.

2.) The state should provide social services in order to reinforce and strengthen individuals in society such as public education through the doctoral level, free or affordable medical care, housing for those who cannot afford it, and funding for those who have initiative and creativity to provide public service.

3.) There can be no majority that ever justifies a disturbance of total separation of church and state.

But I also have a short list of premises all my own:

1.) Each individual has a responsibility to actualize and excel to the full extent of their ability, those who fail to do so, while they should be legally free to do so they should be socially disregarded by custom. In short, ambition should be seen as the highest social virtue. 

2.) The state should generously reward those who embody the first premise. 

3.) Humanity should be treated as a single unit, countries must eventually not hold the ability to separate our species in any other way than our benevolent cultural distinctions.

4.) Malevolent cultural distinctions such as genital mutilation, suicide cults, leader worship, child molestation norms, or celebration of ignorance should be eradicated.

5.) The only way to fulfill the above four  premises is if scientific thought is the norm, until scientific thought is the norm we will remain a threat to ourselves as a species. 

Just to clarify what I mean by Scientific Thought:

- A way of seeing the world that considers evidence the final arbiter of truth. 

- A way of seeing the world that humbly embraces the tradition of peer review in which all of our ideas are acceptable to criticize, test, and disregard.

- A way of seeing the world which cooperates with the system and establishment of science, so that scientists can provide an ever increasing body of evidence to illuminate truth.

One can hold ideas such as the postmodernists do, that science has some cultural factors. Scientists agree, and we continue to work diligently to reduce these. This is why scientific thought must be self correcting. The ideas by which we frame the evidence must always be on trial.

I believe if we live in a world where everyone is well read, well instructed, and regularly exposed directly to the sciences and scientific method the word I envision will be born.

Hence I want to save the world by bring science to the people.
