Rumors about me answered on facebook

Hey folks, if you have facebook you might want to check my profile over the last few days.  I've spoken about Kelly and I breaking up for good about 3 weeks ago, and have recently started a dialogue addressing any rumors that people might have been convinced of over the last few years.  Generally when a claim was ridiculous I would ignore it as I deemed it as too stupid to respond to, however Rook persuaded me via phone tonight to answer my friends on any rumors that they were curious about.  I started the conversation on facebook because I wanted to see what actual fan/friends want to know about as opposed to the enemy types who just want to ruffle feathers.  A few questions were in fact asked, and I was rather thorough.  If the conversation continues well there, I'll likely post the relevant rumor answers on this site soon.

Here's the thread: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?&new_box_added_id=2448182852#/note.php?note_id=170805010311&ref=mf

If you want to find me on facebook, look up "Brian Sapient" and send me a friend request.  If you are new to facebook or you have to wait for me to accept your friend request you can make a post below with your facebook name, if I recognize you from this site, I'll approve you.

And on that note, I already feel the time crunch each of the last few nights.  I haven't gotten enough sleep (like the old days), I didn't spend as much time with my son on his homework as I would've liked, and I missed a few TV shows I'd like to see.  I'm off for at least an hour... Brian, like I have told

Brian, like I have told Reggie, and I include Jake as well, all of you set the stage for people like Hitchens and Dawkins to be successful. There is more to a movement than those who end up on top, and it is impossible in a competing open market for everyone to end up on top.

HAVING SAID THAT, never forget your contributions. All of us here take solace in that RRS and Jake and IG put yourselves out there. Both you and I know where atheists were in 01 when the Atheist Network only had a couple hundred members and only a handful of active members.

NOW there are hundreds of atheists sites, dozens of atheist books constantly in the media, and an article somewhere in the world EVERY DAY mentioning atheists.

You should take comfort in that you had a hand in this and in no small part. Most of us here will never accomplish what you have. You have done your part. Focusing on your family is understandable and I am sure that even in doing that you will not die out as a voice for atheism.

If you would have told me in 01 that an atheist would be on the best seller list, or that an atheist would be open in our Congress, I would have scoffed at it.

Because of you and this site, I have an oasis. Without it, living where I live I would be totally isolated from other atheists. Without your openness and those prior, I would have remained in the closet as an atheist, which I had been for a long time.

History books only mention a few, but there are far more than the few that put the few in the book. What you have done for us is far more valuable than any paycheck. I know that is not much comfort in this crappy economy, but things are much better now for atheists because of sites like this and people like you.

Material things come and go and fame is fleeting. But what cannot be taken away is the road to progress you have paved for atheists.

Thanks so much Brian, I'm

Thanks so much Brian, I'm lucky to never have lost site of that.  From time to time I'll see something on TV, see a "Blasphemy Day" from CFI, or see something else that I feel partially responsible for.  I couldn't help but feel a tiny role when I saw Kirk Cameron ridiculed on Family Guy.  And I like those feelings, they definitely help me realize I've played an important role.

Your letter was helpful, I'm glad you wrote it, I'm even considering framing it and putting it on my wall as like a daily affirmation.  It'd be the the only message board post on the wall in my house, so thanks for writing it, and damn... no spelling errors?  (I would've never guessed that in '01)  Eye-wink  love ya man

Oh my Thor! OR JAKE, whatever. Please don't do that. The thought of complementing an Eagles fan is hard enough. To take one from an Eagles fan would be too much. You do realize that I am a Redskin fan and that I like shiny objects?

I am in total agreement with Brian37;  even his quote of Pres.Obama was made possible by the good works of people like the RRS.  Theist now flinch with embarassment at the sight of atheists.

Your first comment wasn't very appropriate, but thanks for making it up to me with your second comment and the fact that you swallowed my load.

To the 109 people still waiting for me to approve your facebook friendship, I don't recognize any of you.  If you are a member of this community for a while, and you have a bunch of posts that make it obvious what you're all about, please post your facebook name in this thread.  Otherwise you'll have to wait a few more days to get in.

I don't listen to rumors.

I'm no stranger to having rumors spread about me.  I know what it's like, and it's ridiculous.  Having people IM you saying shit like "Hey, did you really have a threesome with Captain Awesome and that skinny chick?" makes you want to just X out the window and not even acknowledge such a stupid question.  And when it comes from people you have always liked and respected, it's ten times worse.  You're left sitting there thinking, "Why do otherwise intelligent people listen to such bullshit?  And what do they care anyway?"

I don't listen.  I'm not interested.  All I'm interested in is that you guys do some more shows and take more calls and all that cool stuff that made me join the RRS in the first place.  By the way, good on you for getting healthy.  I've started reinventing myself physically as well.  So far I've lost 12 pounds.  I want my stripper bod back, haha!

Liberate your mind. Fuck religion.

I tried adding you Brian, but apparently Facebook and the PS3 are not yet fully compatible, and the text box confirmation anti-spam system they use isn't showing up to be able to confirm legitimacy of my request, and I can therefore not make requests, only receive them. If you add me I can approve it without needing to deal with that system though. No rush or pressure. Sticking out tongue

Enlightened Atheist, Gaming God.

Friend me if you could, pleeease. :)

Hey Brian, it's awesome to see you back... can't wait for some new recordings to be released. I want to let you know that you and the RRS really helped me get out of theism and know that there were other like minded non-believers out there. I had recently broke with about 18/19 years of belief when I discovered your show in 07 (right before the Dateline stuff) and was HOOKED on all your recordings.

RRS really solidified my non-belief. Thank you.

Hello Brian I have you as a

Hello Brian

I have you as a friend on MySpace, and I have been a fan of RRS since I came across you tearing up Kirk and Co on TV. It was awesome, and I hope you get to do more of those.

I sent you a friend request on Facebook (I am David Graham) not because I care about you and Kelly's relationship...whatever the issues, it is none of my business...I care more about hearing more about your ideas, views and commentary from an atheist perspective.

I would just like to add, that I like both you and Kelly, but like celebrities, I don't care who you guys date or don't date as long as you keep doing what your doing. I don't know if I am being clear, but as long as Brad Pitt (or any actor for that matter) keeps making movies, who gives a rats backside who he is dating?

Anyway, I look forward to seeing more from the RRS!

I don't post much anymore, since I got really tired of arguing with idiots, but I still like to read every once in a while to see how the fight is going.
