Orlando: The City Bloody

digitalbeachbum's picture

Having lived and worked in Orlando for over 40 years I've thought I've seen it all. Yet last night was a new one for me, surprise, surprise, surprise.

The shooting of at the gay night club called Pulse was not just a religious or gay hate crime. Many of the people who were killed were a mix of bi, homo, trans and heterosexual. I know. I've been to these clubs. I was often out late at night bar hopping with friends and one of the best clubs in Orlando was always the gay clubs. They had great music, lots of straight women and if you had a date, it was an awesome place to go with out having to deal with drunk egotistical rednecks.

So as if Orlando wasn't already on the map, we now have two senseless nights of murder. Two nights previously a young singer from The Voice, Christina Grimmie, dies because some deflated obsessive fan decided that killing her was a better idea than moving on with their life with confidence and control over their ego.

I know some where that some one is going to bring up gun control or gun reform but that isn't the answer to this problem. It isn't about the guns. It is about the mind and health of others. Learning to control your emotions is a key to all humans bettering their personal life and the lives of others. Improving our communities by learning to control those impulses of violence and hatred. It is necessary for the entire community to teach their young that harming others is not the answer.

 I really can't believe

I really can't believe anyone is surprised at this. We nearly had another massacre at the pride parade in LA. I knew this kind of stuff was going to happen when I saw covered up Muslim women on the same street with leather pants hole in the ass gay men on the same street. They can't co-exist no matter how many progressives have it on their bumper sticker.

They can exist provided the extremist point of view is removed from the equation. It appears to me the most extreme the ideology the less tolerance there is for the non-believers.

I also noticed that the father of this guy said that it wasn't about religion. He's wrong. It's all about religion

If they couldn't coexist then there would either be no gays or no muslims in every country in the world. Which obviously is not the case.

I am fucking sick of media

I am fucking sick of media harping on "motive". The pop singer murdered on Saturday wasn't murdered by a Muslim. The abortion clinic shooter based his violence on Christianity. Roof wasn't a Muslim. The Texas biker gang shootout that left 9 dead was not religion motivated. The theater shooter and Va Tech shooters were mentally ill.

And even if you remove all mass shootings, the majority of gun deaths happen in the home with the user and or someone the user knows. The GOP and the blood lobby NRA don't give one fuck about gun rights or gun safety. They are simply just another corporate profit protector. My Jr year high school yearbook had a two page layout of news events that happend nation wide. One of those stories wasy about a massacre that happened at a McDonalds in San Ysidro Ca just south of San Diego. That wasn't last year. That wasn't 3 years go, or even 10 years ago. That happened in 1984!

The closest the GOP has ever come to helping stopping gun violence was when Reagan and Brady got shot. But those laws later got gutted by the GOP and NRA lobby. FUCK THE GOP AND FUCK THE NRA! The reality is we make too many guns and they are way too easy to get!

I've been trying to find out how he walked in to the club with an AR 15 and other weapons. Did he shoot the security up front? one of the bouncers died in the carnage. Also two off duty police officers exchanged gun fire with him only minutes after the 2:02am inital barrage. One of which I understand was working at the bar that night.

I see now this morning the shooter visited the gay club twice a month for about three years.

Could this be an example of a closeted gay man who was in conflict with the religion? His father beat him? His religion conflicted him?

I read security was low. No metal detectors even. Shouldn't have been too difficult.

An AR15 is slightly shorter than an M16, less bulky. Maybe he had a trench coat

No sorry, the problem is one party and one lobby. The stats have consistantly said year after year that a gun in the home regardless of legal vs illegal is far more likely to cause death by the user, than it is to stop an active shooter. There is only one reason for the obstruction by the makers and the NRA and that is to protect profits.

YES I am "emotional" because I am fucking tired of all the gun deaths. I really could give a shit less if anyone reading this thinks I am being "emotional". I don't want to hear shit from the right about "lets keep them out of the wrong hands" then stop every attempt to change things. They are the ones preying off of people's fear. They are the ones scaring the shit out of everyone needlessly.

So yea, I will say it again, FUCK THE NRA! They are programming people to treat an object is if it were human. They are programing people to act like ISIS and react like a gun is a Quran.

So yea, and again FUCK THE NRA!

 There is a huge differnce

There is a huge differnce between hunting and target shooting and crisis shooting, and the following video shows what is far more likely to happened with a civilian trying to use a gun in an active shooter situation. THIS is the norm, not the bullshit NRA "Good guy" garbage.

And I really don't give one fuck if anyone here doesn't like me personally. Fine then argue with cop trainer Pete Blair who wrote the FBI report on active shooter outcomes.

Pete Blair heads this cop training organization.

So call me an emotional liar all you want, but Pete's job is to stress train cops in active shooter situations. Most civilians do not have that training.

What the coexist people will never get is the whole purpose of religion is to put the religious group, their values and culture above all the rest. Religions and secular can't coexist, because then it would not be religion.

I just love how our government goes around the middle east looking to support "moderate militants" and then surprise, they can't find any. If they were moderates, then they wouldn't be militant.

That has to be the most retarded argument I have seen in my lifetime. Of course there aren't mass shootings at an NRA meetups, because they are fucking hypocrits. They love bullshitting about no rules but when it comes to their own events or their own politicians they ban loaded guns. But as far as the neighborhood I personally live in, I find it funny you'd assume it is high crime. Or are you implying gays any  neighborhoods deserve death? Ted had a gay basher calling for the death of gays introduce him on his run. But no, I am not gay in any case.

Which places do you think I go? I have moved around my 49 years and lived in several locations mostly in two states. Haven't been shot at once. Cant say the same for he dipsthit "instructor" who thought it would be fun to teach a kid how to shoot an uzi at an allegedly "safe"  gun shooting range.

There was a false rumor, don't believe everthing you read on the internet. NRA is not presently an anarchist organization, so they follow the law and the rules of the places they rent out. So they should break the law so as to not be hypocrits?

Someone with a victim mentality and expecting politicians to protect them, so of course criminals will prey on people like you.

I can't imagine anyone male or female wanting to have sex with someone as angry and nasty as you. So, I would assume you are asexual.

I just know you don't go to NRA, Republican party, Trump meetups. You would go where ever the helpless victims would go.

That wasn't a mass shooting now was it? He wasn't using a gun range for what it was supposed to be used for. Instead he turned a shooting range into a tourist trap.

political ideologies and the results of the their applications don't exist in a vacuum. there are many more factors behind the situation in venezuela than just chavezian socialism.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."
