Atheist Nexus Controversy?
I recently read a few blog posts regarding Atheist Nexus, a social site on the Ning platform for atheists. Apparently, not everybody agrees with some of the decisions made by the operators of this group. Sound familiar? It's nice to know that some people have their noses up everybody's asses and not just ours...but I digress. We set up a group there months ago which hasn't been utilized since the main site serves a similar function, but if you are into that format, please feel free to register at rationalresponders.ning.com. If there proves to be enough interest, we would be willing to spend the money necessary to improve the format over there. If you have already registered at Atheist Nexus, you can use the same login info.

Hmm.
That whole thing struck me as a non-issue. Like folks were expecting a purity of motive or somesuch, which is an odd thing to expect.
Anyway; I'm going to ask the following question because, as an Aspie, I just don't have the first clue:
What do folks get out of these networking sites that they don't already get out of participation in forums or similar venues?
"Anyone can repress a woman, but you need 'dictated' scriptures to feel you're really right in repressing her. In the same way, homophobes thrive everywhere. But you must feel you've got scripture on your side to come up with the tedious 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve' style arguments instead of just recognising that some people are different." - Douglas Murray
Atheist Nexus is a pretty
Atheist Nexus is a pretty good idea as it gets different groups of atheists together, so far no mud-slinging (other then the 'controversy' mentioned by Kelly) I think there are 12 members on the RRS page over there, not a lot of activity right now but more members would be great! There are 'groups' within the site so the more of our members that are over there, the more exposure we get, the more traffic we could get here, etc..
***EDIT*** And yes I do love the format and signed up at our site. (not to be confused with the atheistnexus 'group)
I asked myself the same thing when I heard of the site! The thought of keeping up with MORE emails and posts ... am I crazy? But with Atheist nexus, it just has a different 'feel' - more of a social network.

Another website to visit?
Another website to visit? I’m all for promoting atheism, but I cannot add another website to my schedule. I dont even have enough time to read every post at RRS let alone respond to all those that I want to respond to.
I’ve said before it only takes a second to vomit forth an irrational statement, but it takes me (because I am not the best) an hour (if I have an hour) to write a response to show why it is invalid (sometimes I fail and will simply resort to Ad Hominems).
It is better that everyone come to rationalresponders.com to find out why theism is a sickness that needs to be eradicated.
Why can't those who hold to intelligent design see that the universe was designed to kill us?
Mind the Machiavellian theists and taqiyahs who masquerade as atheists.
Atheist Nexus
I joined Atheist Nexus when they were 4 days old and growing at a very healthy rate, it was a super interesting site and I did quite a bit of commentary. Then, the "GroupThink" started working and it became embarassing to even read. The founder did some dumb things for a web page writer to do and the "GroupThink" went to work, led by a real time cop from Mississippi. I had commented to the founder how sorry he was being treated and that opened the door for the cop to come after me. I has since become one of the moderators and I left! Don't need that crap!
Cop!?
WTF!? For what purpose would a cop "come after" you? "...dumb things for a web page writer to do..." Such as?
