My son sent this email to a prospective college emphasizing Christianity

My son just sent a letter to a prosepective University.  With a good idea that the school wasn't right for him based solely on it's emphasis of Christianity, he decided to air it out.  Here is a snippet of the letter....

"I am however concerned about the emphasis placed on faith based clubs in your brochure.  I was wondering if you had similar reality based clubs, like an evolution club or an atheist meet.  Also, I need to know that religion doesn’t play a role in how I am taught, as I am looking for an education based purely on that which we know to be true." The school referenced faith groups in it's catalog but it didn't go as far as explaining the "guiding principles" which we just found on the website....
Quote:
Palm Beach Atlantic University is a comprehensive Christian university with a core emphasis in the liberal arts. Its purpose is to offer a curriculum of studies and a program of student activities dedicated to the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives and the perpetuation of growth in Christian ideals.   Founded under the providence of God with the conviction that there is a need for a university in this community that will expand the minds, develop the moral character and enrich the spiritual lives of all the people who may come within the orbit of its influence, Palm Beach Atlantic University shall stand as a witness for Jesus Christ, expressed directly through its administration, faculty and students.   To assure the perpetuation of these basic concepts of its founders, it is resolved that all those who become associated with Palm Beach Atlantic University as trustees, officers, members of the faculty or of the staff, must believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments; that man was directly created by God; that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin; that He is the Son of God, our Lord and Savior; that He died for the sins of all men and thereafter arose from the grave; that by repentance and the acceptance of and belief in Him, by the grace of God, the individual is saved from eternal damnation and receives eternal life in the presence of God; and it is further resolved that the ultimate teachings in this University shall always be consistent with these principles.

Cards on the table, my advice is keep looking around and don't waste anymore time playing twenty questions with this school.  Surely there are other viable options that don't include Jesus as part of the curriculum.  Good luck.

 This school is his cross

This school is his cross school, that's like ten levels below fall back school.

i'm so disappointed in victoria jackson. i actually thought she was pretty funny on SNL back in the day.

back on topic, you've got a helluva kid there. i hope my boys grow up that critically minded.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

She was hot and funny. I remember her on UHF with Weird Al.

She disappeared then showed up on CNN and some other talk shows as if she was some UFO conspiracy nut.
