Let's call the Tampa church and congratulate them on their "Christian values," shall we?

Yes folks, a church in Tampa denied a funeral to a gay man two days before it was supposed to take place because they found out he had a "husband," and they just didn't like that. So I figured I'd give them a call... enjoy!

  I've never understood why

I've never understood why any gay man or woman would choose to practice Christianity anyway.  The anti-gay doctrines in the Bible are out there for all the world to see and yet many gays attempt to contort these plainly condemning scriptures into something they plainly are not.  It's like a Jew reading Mein Kampf  and then expecting to be accepted by the Nazis.  WTF ?

( edit )  Speaking of cognitive dissonance I read the story on Huffpo and saw that the gay couple were actually African Americans who attended a freaking Baptist church.  Did these black men belong to a Southern Baptist denomination ?  ...you know the Baptists who waited until 1995 to finally apologize for supporting slavery ?

As an admitted atheist should I actually be surprised if this church took a condemning view of me as well ?

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

Bitchen!!!!!!!

Call the church and tell them to read Mark 14:51, and then try to convince you Jesus was not gay.
