glad to be here

found this site via the richard dawkins official website and immediately knew i'd found my spiritual home....... though i have to say, secular europe is almost certainly a nicer place to be rational than the usa right now. the superstitious are in a shrinking minority here, and no politician would dream of trying to use his religious beliefs as a springboard to election.
on the other hand, they are also as dumb as deeply religious politicians.
life can be depressing.

you have to work on those darn politicians though.....

... because the alternatives to politics is no politics, and places with no politics are theocracies, tyrannies or chaotic anarchies.

none of which are fun to live in.

do you think it would be worth trying to bribe them into atheism? (just a wild and crazy thought)

Welcome to the site! We

Welcome to the site! We don't get a lot of Europeans here. I am from Hong Kong which means I suppose that I was (until now) the farthest away from the site main. I always enjoyed going to Europe (I especially enjoy Barcelona, I shall have to return when the  Sagrada Familia is finished) and thoroughly enjoyed being among a group of overwhelmingly secular people. I was never fully able to come to grips with the overwhelming religiosity of the United States.

You will enjoy it here, I guarantee. When I found the site, I felt the same.

"Physical reality” isn’t some arbitrary demarcation. It is defined in terms of what we can systematically investigate, directly or not, by means of our senses. It is preposterous to assert that the process of systematic scientific reasoning arbitrarily excludes “non-physical explanations” because the very notion of “non-physical explanation” is contradictory.

Hello spanish rationalist and welcome.

Funny you should say that. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes which is from an American humorist named Will Rogers. "There are no strangers, just friends I haven't met yet."

Atheist Books, purchases on Amazon support the Rational Response Squad server.
