NO WORLD OF WARCRAFT TALK IN THIS VID GAME THREAD!

A recent post inspired me to start this thread.

I am of the one button joystick generation from the Missle Command, Defender age. I did like Mortal Kombat although I lacked the eye hand coordnation to play it. I did find Sonja of the video game to be a hottie.

I also liked the original "Resident Evil" but again couldnt get very far in it.

What are your favorite classics from the 80s and early 90s?

Missle Command

Defender

Frogger

Mortal Combat

Resident Evil

AND PLEASE TAKE NOTE, NO WORLD OF WARCRAFT PLEASE!

Centipede was fun but asteroids was a b i t c h for me. I could never stablize the direction of the triangle ship.

I also liked donkey kong.

MAME is the shiznit.  I

MAME is the shiznit.  I still play:

  • Asteroids
  • Centipede
  • Defender
  • Dig Dug
  • Donkey Kong
  • Frogger
  • Galaga and Galaxian
  • Joust
  • Millipede
  • Moon Patrol
  • Mortal Kombat 1-3
  • Ms. PacMan
  • PacMan
  • Q-Bert
  • Space Invaders
  • Star Wars
  • Tempest
  • Tron

Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Joust, Mortal Kombat 1-3 and PacMan / Ms. PacMan are my favorites.

I haven't found a workable configuration with Tempest and Tron...aren't too many "knob" controllers anymore.  Admittedly, I haven't tried too hard to come up with a solution.  Maybe a mouse wheel???

Can we include console games?

Super Mario Bros.

I would include more, but I think most console games I like are from the 90s.

Hey, welcome to the forums, Gorzak.  If you feel so inclined, hop on over to the General Conversation, Introductions, and Humor forum and introduce yourself.

Who didn't play Doom?  But it was an early 90s game. Eye-wink

Ditto on these.  I recently played the updated version of X-Wing Alliance all the way through...except for the last mission.  It seems the folks from X-Wing Alliance Upgrade made the Falcon bigger (more realistic) and now it's very hard to navigate through the Death Star's superstructure.  I'm nearly to the point where I'm going to cheat to make it through.

The game looks really nice now, though. Smiling

There's also a TIE Fighter Total Conversion mod I'm going to try soon.

Could probably remember more given some time.

"Everyone knows that God drives a Plymouth: "And He drove Adam And Eve from the Garden of Eden in His Fury."
And that Moses liked British cars: "The roar of Moses' Triumph was heard throughout the hills."
On the other hand, Jesus humbly drove a Honda but didn't brag about it, because in his own words: "I did not speak of my own Accord." "

I thought I was the only person who played Syndicate.

Loved that game.

Back in the early days, though...

Pacman

Ms. Pacman

Galaga

Centipede

Karate Champ... yeah, you weren't ready for that one, were you!

On Atari 2600.. Dark Cavern... yeah I know you don't remember it.   I think I was the only person who played it...

Oh..  and...

Final Fantasy.

Yes.  Final Fantasy without any numbers after it.

Is it true or a myth(probibly a myth) but I was just wondering if there was a super secret button sequence in Mortal Kombat that would cause a "Nudeality" on Sonja.

I wasnt much in to games in

I wasnt much in to games in the 80' and early 90's. It was a bit later that I got into it.

My favorites:

Fallout 1 and 2(3 is coming soon!)

The final Fantasy series. Even the ones with numbers at the end. Wink

Shadowrun back when it was on the genesis and super nintendo. Now that they have turned it into a shooter Im pretty dissapointed.

Civilization. Its always fun to blow everyone up.

Hmm..Im sure there are more to add to my list. But I gotta get back to work!

Chrono trigger ToeJam and

Chrono trigger
ToeJam and Earl
The Thief Series
The ORIGINAL doom
The Original Wolfenstein.
Commander Keen
Fallout 1 and 2 (3 /is/ coming, but it's being made by bethesda... I think I'll pass.)
Gametap has really reinvigorated my love for older games and seething hatred for new stuff. In the past three years I have not been happy with any of the blockbuster games or big name games that have come around promising to revolutionize gaming, its all the same, I have to buy a new video card in order to enjoy a lackluster game. And dont get me started on online play.
Now a days I scrounge for older games or buy cheap little adventure titles that (usually) have a good story and challenging puzzles.

  • Tattoo Assassins, an arcade game created two years after the first Mortal Kombat but never released, featured its own take on fatalities, as well as a 'Nudality' finishing move, in which the opponent's clothes disappear, showing him or her nude, though the hands cover the genitals. The game also featured 'Animalities', before they appeared in Mortal Kombat 3.

Oh yeah... speaking of

Oh yeah... speaking of playing for 24 hours...

these are later PC games, but Populous destroyed my life for a long time...

And there was this game called Dungeon Hack.  Randomly generated dungeons with randomly generated treasure.  Some evil, evil person came up with that idea..

And of course, Diablo and Diablo II...

I actually called in sick to finish playing American McGee's Alice.  What a great game.

Prince of Persia also took up a lot of my time when it came out.
