So I was at the Library today...

Well, I was at the Library today to get some reading material, as I don't really have any extra money to buy books from evolve fish, So I do the normal thing you know, go inside, go to the catalog computer and search for the books. Well, I found the books in the catalog, however couldn't find the books on the NF 211 shelf where they're supposed to be. I proceeded to ask a librarian if she could help me find "The Impossiblity of God" and "Sense and Goodness Without God" (Richard Carrier's book) as well as "Atheism: A Reader". So, I nicely asked if she couldn't help me find the books, and she was pretty nice about it until we actually got to the bookshelf. She said "Well, what do you need these books for?" and, I nicely answered "I want a good read on what I believe in." and she said "Oh no no, this stuff is completely stupid, you gotta read the bible and attend church, that's what the truth is." I said, "Well, I'm an atheist and these are my beliefs, I don't follow the bible like other people." Soon after that she told me she'd like me to have my parents come in to have me check out these books, I said, "These books aren't porno, or X rated, this is a public library and I would like to check out my books, I have my own form of payment for overdue books, (which i slowly pulled out my mastercard to show her), after that, I noticed she had a cross hanging from her neck, and I understood that she was upset for me checking out atheist books, I went to get another librarian and complained, she eventually apologized for acting so rude.

Anyway, I had a fun day, and i'm currently reading the books Smiling-

I'm glad I remained humble and civil about it, because if I would've gotten my parents, it could've been bad. My parents are really deep skeptics like my self.

ya man.

When she told you that these books were extremely stupid. You should have asked if she read them yet.. because in that case, you could have offered her to take them out first. Or at least let her have one!! lol.

God is the omnimax creator by definition of major religions. If there is evidence that the religion is incorrect about the nature of reality, then there is evidence that the God the religion defines does not exist.

I should of! Oh well, I was in kind of a hurry to get out, because I had some community service to do.

I probably would have gotten a little angrier a little faster...

I ask for those books all the time, but fortunatly I haven't had those problems. (Actually that's unfortuante, because I'd love to argue with them.)

I wouldn't have gotten irate with her either - it's a library after all, use your hush voices Eye-wink

I would have taken her up on checking out a Bible though - then I'd leave it in the fiction section on my way out.

I always say that's the proper section! I'm sure she's never read those books. Maybe not even the Bible, either!

I went to the local Christian bookstore the other week. I was just curious if they had anything about atheism. I asked the lady if they had any books about atheism. She took me to the "Cults" section and said that if they had anything it would be there. They didnt have anything.

btw, I'm new here but I'm jesuscutsmygrass on IG.. :smt006

Christianity fits the "Cult" category much better than atheism! By the way, from your name I bet you've seen this video:

So I was at the Library today...

There's this crazy Christian chick that works at the local grocers here. Our first encounter with her was purchasing Halloween goodies last year. As she's checking us out, she's scolding us, telling us how she is strongly against this kind of thing, etc, etc. We're like "We don't care. Stop talking to us. We're shopping." Now we just try to avoid her, but now and then, we're not paying attention (you know, because we just want to pick up groceries and aren't constantly on our guard, like normal people should be able to do) and we'll end up in her line. I don't know if she recognizes us, but her responses seem to depend on what we're wearing. If we're wearing something kind of plain, she'll let us off with a "good day", if we're wearing something horror related (we like the movies), she'll look at us wrong and bless us. Evil Eventually I'll get tired of it and complain to a higher up. I shouldn't have to deal with this while I'm just trying to pick up some food, and you shouldn't have to deal with it when visiting the public library.

Actually I havent seen that..until now. I chose my name because my penis has been in a lot of Christian girls...just like Jesus! Not really, but being 21 and not long out of a chritian youth group, I can say that a lot of those church chicks are EASY.

Dang it, now I remembering the good ole days...when god was real and ass was easy. Damned atheism! I want my church chicks!

btw, the preacher's daughter was the easiest

You were nicer than what I

You were nicer than what I have been. My response would be something like, "Fuck off and get me the goddamn books bitch!"

You don't "gotta" believe in

You don't "gotta" believe in things to be an atheist, since atheism isn't a belief system. All you "gotta" do is not have a belief in any gods. That's all there is to it.
