Imperion from Florida
Greetings, Rational Response Squad.
I am here to say that the problem we face will most likely never solve itself. This is why, no matter how bad it gets, no matter how much wrong is done to us, we will never abandon our cause. The darkness that has enslaved the minds of the world can be penetrated and it is reason that is our candle. Never forget that we are the ones who stand with the strength of honesty. It is what sets us apart from many theists. It is our greatest asset. Traveling this path is difficult, but we are well aware of this and we embrace the challenge. Why? Because we care.
As you may have noted from the subject title, I'm from Florida. I grew up as a Christian and remained one for over 18 years. Like many of you, I'm sure, this ended once I began to actually ask questions. I am now very proud to say I finally have earned the right to call myself an atheist. It is one of the few accomplishments of my life that is worth noting. I have a 40 page manifesto (defending my choices to adopt an atheistic worldview) that I'm reluctant to submit due to it being far larger than the recommended 3-5 page essay format. Would anyone still be interested?

HERE! HERE!
40 pages! If you could write it in shorthand I'd read it.
A few of my friends have told me that it was too short! How do you explain your life's journey out of faith and into reason in only a few pages?
Think I should submit it as an essay despite how large it is?
Welcome to the hizzle and congratulations on giving up irrationality!
Welcome Imperion!
Yes, I would like to read your manifesto - is there any way you could set it up, say, on a myspace page and provide a link to it?
Also, I love your avatar!!

I have taken from many sources and used them to aid my position. Richard Dawkins fans will be very familiar with some arguments. As long as you aren't planning to attack me with my own work, please feel free to use it how you will.
Welcome Imperion!
Another Floridian on the forums. That's terrific.
Maybe there's some way you could break your paper into parts and post them as blog entries?
We're so glad to have you here!

That's a great idea Susan. I think I will do that.
