Worst Song Ever?

Here's a scenario for you.

Dr. Emmitt Brown from "Back To The Future" shows up with a Delorean in front of your house and tells you that he's going back in time to prevent the worst song of all time from being released -- by any means necessary. He needs your help to determine what song to squelch. What song do you recommend?

----

I choose "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson. That song annoys the hell out of me, and the radio played it nonstop when it came out. It's STILL on radio playlists where I live. I hate that song with all my heart. I'd actually go to the bank & withdraw up to $300 and pay to erase that song from the planet and my memory.

A close second is "Dreaming of You" by Selena.

There are just some songs that need to be banished from human existence.

I've heard "Achy Breaky Heart" at the top of some of these lists. What do you think?

I made a thread like this one a while back, nobody replied.

But one song I hate is "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba.

I would just have him cut

I would just have him cut Justin Timberlake's vocal cords.  That would make my life so much happier Smiling

Yep, these are two winners.

Yep, these are two winners. You haven't lived until you have seen a disco full of 2000 drugged up indonesians rocking out to a cover of song # 1 by a local cover band.

Now now Nickelback had one good song. The problem was that every song thereafter sounds like the first one, and it's become a bit too repetitive.....

You ever have those songs

You ever have those songs that you kind of like but hate yourself for liking them?

I was listening to Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" on the radio at work today, and I couldn't help but like it.  Damn me.  Damn me to hell.  That song sucks.

 Wait...

 Hell doesn't exist.

Screw Avril Lavigne for making crappy music I can't help but -sort of- like.

I'm with Vastet. Nickelback

I'm with Vastet. Nickelback don't really suck. Its just that all their songs sound the same. If you've heard one, you've heard them all, so they get old really really quick. It's for this reason that they rarely appear in my playlists.

Yeah, I agree. Nickelback

Yeah, I agree. Nickelback is not that bad, but most of their songs sound the same.

There's this music video that I like.

Don't know why I like it, maybe because it's kinda funny. But I don't like the song.

I discount everything said

I discount everything said here and hereby proclaim this song the WORST EVER....PERIOD.

Manfred Man's  "blinded by the light."

It makes no fucking sense whatsover and emotes on passages  that deserve to be ridiculed.  I just really don't like anything about this song.  The weirdest thing about it was how popular it was, and  how people sang along like it had some significance to the world around them.

Blinded by the light

Madman drummers bummers and Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder feelin' kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground
Some all-hot half-shot was headin' for the hot spot snappin' his fingers clappin' his hands
And some fleshpot mascot was tied into a lover's knot with a whatnot in her hand
And now young Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand
And some bloodshot forget-me-not whispers daddy's within earshot save the buckshot turn up the band

And she was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tight, but she'll make it alright

Some brimstone baritone anti-cyclone rolling stone preacher from the east
He says: "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in its funny bone, that's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner all alone watchin' the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin' with his frozen zone to remind him of the feeling of romance

Yeah he was blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
He got down but she never got tight, but he's gonna make it tonight

Some silicone sister with her manager's mister told me I got what it takes
She said I'll turn you on sonny, to something strong if you play that song with the funky break,
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe to go outside
And little Early-Pearly came in by her curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride,
Oh, some hazard from Harvard was skunked on beer playin' backyard bombardier
Yes and Scotland Yard was trying hard, they sent a dude with a calling card,
he said, do what you like, but don't do it here
Well I jumped up, turnedaround, spit in the air, fell on the ground
Asked him which was the way back home
He said take a right at the light, keep goin' straight until night, and then boy, you're on your own

And now in Zanzibar a shootin' star was ridin' in a side car hummin' a lunar tune
Yes, and the avatar said blow the bar but first remove the cookie jar we're gonna teach those boys to laugh too soon

And some kidnapped handicap was complainin' that he caught the clap from some mousetrap he bought last night,

Well I unsnapped his skull cap and between his ears I saw
a gap but figured he'd be all right

He was just blinded by the light
Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Mama always told me not to look into the sights of the sun
Oh but mama that's where the fun is

Zook, about the first one... you should consider yourself lucky. Imagine that we romanians actually understand what they say... can anything be of greater torture than this?

My no. 1 would be Joan Osbourne - If God was one of us. That thing has the capacity to annoy me up to the point where my auto-pilot takes over. Luckily I never get to listen to all of it, as when I wake up it's already long past over.

No their songs (at least there hits) are the same. I wish I could find it, but someone put two of their (hit) songs side by side in an MP3 (on in the left channel one in the right) and they worked together. They had the same chord sequence, the same beats, the melodies worked with each other, the verses, chorus, bridge, and instrumental break all started at the same times and lasted the same amount.

Anyway, I think asking what's the worst song is is worse than asking what the best song is. The reason: bad songs outnumber good songs by many orders of magnitude.

But, if I had to choose, it would be Pachelbel's canon.

Yea, Nickelback is good the

Yea, Nickelback is good the first time you hear it, but if you listen to any of their albums two or three times, you'll get tired of them pretty quickly. And once you're tired of one album, you're done with the rest, bacause it doesn't get any better. I don't ever listen to the radio, but I can understand the agony if they play a nickelback song all the time.

You must have the right and left speaker on for it to work. But give it a while to load, also there is the picture of Nickelback in the middle of the screen that shows the play button. If not, right-click and play.

I'm probably going to come of as a music snob, but what can you do?

They were meant to be played together. The first song was a hit. If it worked once, why not try it again? They had to do what the producer told them.

Most of the major label music is a consumer product before it's art. The music is controlled by the label's producers & executives, and they tell the bands/performers what to play, and you what to listen to. And then they market the hell out of it by playing them repeatedly on radio & TV. All these American Idol singers, they're industry products. Nickleback? Industry products. Maybe in the past Nickleback had a soul, but they sold it to the major labels, along with the rights to all their recordings.
