There is something wrong with Christianity. You got kids being sent in rooms without their parents to have some sicko self proclaimed 'moralist' read them stories of genocide and sodomy. Attention to this is reinforced by the threat of eternal force. Noah's ark is read to 3 year olds and it is a stroy of god killing 99.999% of all life on the earth. Moses the Hebrew spiritual leader murders a man and hides his body in Exodus. Of course we also have the story of god killing all the first born babies in Egypt. The Story Exodus 13 which is total fiction is based on the lie that God led the Hebrew people out of slavery (in reality and History is was Cyrus the Great from Persia) and because of this God decides all the first born children as well as animals belong to him.
The fourth Chapter of Genesis which is also read to all children is about a man who murders his brother. And it just doesn't stop. Animals and people are sacrificed. The whole religion is centered around a human sacrifice which does not even make sense because it is god/his son sacrificing himself to himself. Women are sacrificed to mobs to be gang raped to death. Rape of captives is advocated by the Lord. We have a very famous story of Samson (a Hebrew Hero) killing 1,000 Philistines (Palestinians) with the jawbone of a donkey, this was of course before his magic hair that gave him super strength was cut off when he was tricked by Delilah. How to people believe in this crap is beyond me.

Now other than with religion, as a society we censor this stuff in every other medium from children because it has been deemed psychologically harmful. But in Christianity they actually threaten the children with eternal pain if they are not obedient to the sect. Children younger than 5 are exposed to sexuality. Christanity is OBSESSED with virginity. The problem is even when you say dont have sex a million times you are talking about sex daily to little kids who would otherwise probably not even know about it or think about it.
Pick up a Bible and read the first book. Sight how many times people are murdered, raped, plagued, etc. That is what they read to little kids. No wonder they grow up all fucked up. Fortunately most Christians dont go to church or they only go twice a year for the holidays. The Bibkle is sick. it is not Satan it is God. I agree with everything in this article except one thing...the Title.
Whilst the rest of the article is perhaps not precisely as I'd write it, I agree with both the content and sentiment, however I do not believe that "Teaching the bible to children should be criminal" as that means that people couldn't read all the horrible crap in there which I've seen deconvert quite a few people including a close friend of mine, (She couldn't believe she'd been brought up to respect a book which contains stuff like Judges 19:23-29)
Perhaps a better title would be "Teaching the bible to children AS TRUTH should be criminal."

I am fine with you not believing in a God/Goddess, etc. I am fine with you posting your beliefs on what is wrong with religion. What I am not fine with is the way you wrote it. Congratulations on having read the bible. Congratulations on knowing various religious texts. However, you make it sound as though every bad thing that has ever been done - rape, murder, etc. - has been done either in the name of a religion or by religious people. This is not the case. Not everything in every religion is bad. There are plenty of good things in religion. There are plenty of good people who are religious. I understand that you are frustrated and angry. And to a certain extent (as much as I can) I understand why you are frustrated and angry. However, you cannot hold theists responsible for everything that has ever gone wrong in the world.. You do not have to be so insulting about it. What is wrong with religious tolerance? What is wrong with allowing me to live my life by my beliefs and you living your life by yours? It is unfair to make value judgments on theists by our beliefs. Just because I believe in God you think I am stupid and cruel and sexually demented. Generalizations like that are unfair.

The OP of this thread seems to be pretty angry and just going on and on in a rant style post about issues he has a problem with. I think that if he toned down the post and addressed issues in a calm manner that the point would be made much more clear.
Anyways, other then my issue with his post tone, is the fact that he (or she not sure, but will use 'he' b/c I'm lazy) seems to hold the actions of a few to hold strong for the many.
Some preachers have major psychological and/or moral issues. The screening process for those preachers/ministers/whatever should probably be revamped (sp?) and heavily reviewed in most or all cases especially since they are in positions of great power and influence. This I agree with and it seems that you have an issue with. However, a MAJORITY of preachers are religious, moral, and have no sexual deviations.
This brings me to one of my main problems. You cannot hold the actions of a few to hold true for the majority. Yes, it is bad that a seemingly large number of 'holy' people have been discovered to be sexual deviants. Yes, this is very bad, presents a bad example to the masses and the fact that there were cover-ups for these people greatly increases the apparent level of corruption and immorality that seems to be inherent in the 'church' establishment. BUT you must figure that the majority of the people who belong to the establishment are not that way. The majority of parents do not have anything to fear from the preachers and such that they trust their children with. IN FACT, I do not have the numbers, but I would be willing to bet that, statistically, children are more at risk at home w/ family members then they are at church in that environment. If somebody can find numbers to credit or discredit me on that statement I will be both interested and happy in both cases.
You also have an issue with the content of the Bible. However, I don't really find that the Bible content all to much worse then average everyday TV content. Yet I am missing your rant about how bad everyday TV shows are and requesting that TV be deemed 'criminal'. Kids, regardless of age, will be exposed to material that some deem 'not age appropriate'. Perhaps you have issues that they are exposed to 'inappropriate material' in an environment where things are supposed to be 'morally right'. But school is supposed to be a 'safe' place right? How much 'dirty' stuff did u know coming out of elementary school? I'm not saying that teaching kids the Bible is right...but I am saying that if the parents want to raise their kids as Christians...which most Christians do...then I don't have any problems with that...I don't see how much sense it would make for a Christian to raise their children as an atheist for example.
