GOP congress on it's way to destroying our cornerstone of oversight.

Don't let this stand for my American friends here. This is not a left or right issue, this is an attack on our cornerstone concept protection of oversight.

Call your congressperson here.

 Who is charge of the

Who is charge of the ethics of the ethics commitee? Who is watching the watchdogs? Doesn't Congress appoint members of the ethics committee? So the unethical are appointing their own watchdogs.

The whole thing sounds so ridiculous. The elected reprentatives are so unethical that we need more ethical people to watch them. So why not just have the ethics committee make the laws since they are so pure.

It is all smoke and mirrors designed to fool you.

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen

That's not true but I do ask "who is watching who"

And these committees have less bite than the public thinks

Has Congress become more ethical since these committes were formed?

I think Congress created these to fool the public. I'm someone has evidence of ethics violation, why not go to the FBI for criminal prosecution. Congress prefers having a committee they can 100% control. Are people making false acusations investigated, so if you don't like the things a congressman supports just falsely accuse him of ethics violation. You can't do that with the FBI.

There is no such that as a non-partisan committee member. Everyone has an opinion, everyone can be influenced by power and money. These committees exist only to fool the easily fooled like Brian37.

I don't trust our Congress just like I don't trust a stranger I meet on the street. It's all at arms-length.

I agree. Money or greed is a key to the corruption of the government. It has been so since the start of this country.
