The difference between blasphemy and xenophobia.....Confessions from a Christian.

Many remember Ben Aflack condeming Bill Maher and Sam Harris and Ayaan Hirsi Ali for rightfully pointing out that the Quran and Hadiths have made the Middle East far to theocratic, violent and divided.

Here is a still Christian, but saw that falsely using "Islamophobe" was the wrong tactic and now agrees with those above that it is simply a way to shut down critcism.

Having said that, what sickos like Trump sell is xenophobia. And the irony of the GOP selling the fear that freedom of religion will end if Jefferson's wall is maintained, is also sick. None of us should want the west to look like the Middle East. Now here is a Christian using that far to demonize word "secular", just as I use it properly. Our right wing Christians miss the point of what liberals say, now here you have a Christian saying what atheists have been saying for years.

For some reason the link doesn't work. GOOGLE "The Critics of Islam Were Right: An Apology to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Sam Harris, Bill Maher and Other So-Called Islamophobes from Christian Post.

 For someone who loves to

For someone who loves to rant about not needing labels, you sure as hell label every person you mention. Exactly what does him being a Christian have to do with anything, and why should anyone in the world give a flying fuck what Ben Affleck thinks about Islam?

If, if a white man puts his arm around me voluntarily, that's brotherhood. But if you - if you hold a gun on him and make him embrace me and pretend to be friendly or brotherly toward me, then that's not brotherhood, that's hypocrisy.- Malcolm X

Said the one who calls our President "Bama". Oh no, nobody should give a fuck what Aflack says, but far too many do. It is relevant because far too much of our right wing politics sells the word "secular" as evil when all it means is "neutral". The hypocrisy is that our right falsely screams Christian persicution because they cant turn public schools and courthouses into billboards while rightfully pointing to the theocracies of the middle east.  Christians, especially our right wing, need to hear another Christian use the word "secular" because it is not a dirty word.

No we don't need labels, but we use them, and just like religion, it wont go away, but what you keep forgetting just like most is while you cant stop people from using them, we are still ultimately individuals and what SHOULD come first is our common existence. The right pisses me off becuase they want their own theocracy, all be it a watered down version, but the left pisses me off too with their good intent on thinking taboos solve problems.

I  have long since stopped responding to show you three stoogies that you are nothing but drama queens. I am simply respoding to you so passers by can read and decide for themselves.

Bill Maher is as wrong as

Bill Maher is as wrong as you are. There is no appreciable difference between muslims and christians beyond the power each respective religion has over government. The christians have 0 governmental authority, and have had 0 governmental authority for at least 200 years. The muslims have 100% governmental authority in dozens of countries, and therefore can legislate their religious beliefs.

Give the christians back the power that was stripped from them and within a generation they will be indistinguishable from muslim extremists. That is what the entire left wing doesn't get. They're so busy making up this bullshit that christians aren't as crazy as muslims they've completely glossed over why: we took the christians out of government centuries ago, and they can't follow their holy book literally anymore or they'll go to jail.

As usual, Brian is a clueless idiot who's only contribution to the site or the world is to show it is possible for a self proclaimed atheist to be more irrational than a religious fanatic.

i for one really don't

i for one really don't believe that any significant number of people give a flying fuck what ben affleck thinks. or what bill maher thinks, for that matter. as far as i am concerned, their opinions hold about equal weight, which is negligible.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."
