Talking Filibuster In The Senate - Sign Petition

I think the Senate should go back to the talking Filibuster and have signed this petition. Make the bastards do some work.

It is pretty easy if you agree.

If you don't I would like to know why you think that.

I agree. If you are going to bust something which I am not against long term. Because our system is based on checks and balances and the rights of the majority do not trump the rights of the minority. But it has been abused and if you are going to do it, you should do it in person, not with a phone or a computer or e-mail.

I agree but the rules are

I agree but the rules are not going to change no matter how many petitions are thrown at them. A filibuster should be a real filibuster and they really need a rule in the Senate that all amendments to a bill have to be germane to the bills stated subject. Too many laws are filled with various amendments that are completely unrelated to the bill which makes it politically impossible to vote against them. The "Port Security Act" outlawed internet poker- anyone care to tell me what the fuck internet poker has to do with port security? Of course, no politician would be caught voting against port security shortly after 9/11. I think they should all have to vote and be on the record individually on each issue instead of these ridiculously huge laws where they can say "Well yeah, I didn't like everything but we X was a really good idea."

Unfortunately, unless people start actually voting those scumbags out of office they are not going to change a thing and incumbent senators are nearly invincible. Vote against incumbents- all of them- even if you think your particular guy or gal isn't the problem.

If, if a white man puts his arm around me voluntarily, that's brotherhood. But if you - if you hold a gun on him and make him embrace me and pretend to be friendly or brotherly toward me, then that's not brotherhood, that's hypocrisy.- Malcolm X

 yep. I do give preference

yep. I do give preference to non-incumbents whenever I can.

I think the petitions are of some value. If not for the incumbents at least for us to see an issue, take a stand, and see what our incumbents do. If nothing, then it gets harder to pull the level, pop the chad or click the button for them going forward.
