Fundamentalist Christianity in Second Life

Obviously I have no idea how many of the subscribers to this website use Second Life for either business or recreation. However, I would like to bring to the attention of members of this forum a truly poisonous fundamentalist Sim in Second Life, called "House of Prayer". Views expressed there are are about as unpleasant as they come, from condemning all gays to eternal hell, to ejecting anyone who continually questions their belief. I have personally been told that "I wouldn't be surprised if the scientists who invented smallpox vaccine actually invented smallpox too so that they could look good when they came up with the vaccine" during a "debate" on why their god waited till the 1960s to prevent smallpox. The Sim is a sick combination of the worst elements of Animal Farm 1984 and Lord of the Flies.

The trouble is, the views expressed there are, I believe, dangerous and a threat to education, scientific progress and personal liberty and they need to be countered. It is a commonly held belief there that the "rapture" is imminent. If someone who holds these irrational beliefs is elected to office and then acts on them, what kind of world will we be in? Why not nuke Iran if the world is ending within a lifetime and "we" will be in heaven and "you" will be in hell? Why bother with a healthcare program if you believe all illness can be healed by prayer?

I would recommend a mass descent on this Sim by atheists  and round the clock filibustering Smiling

Fundamentalist Christianity in Second Life

Re: the above, I forgot to mention that I was also told whilst visiting the House of Prayer sim, without a hint of irony by the speaker, that T-rex helped the Israelites build the pyramids by picking up the heavy stones in its teeth and moving them.

The fundy must have seen it on a Flintstone rerun once. You can tell the fool the Israelites didn't build pyramids even the bible makes that clear, no mere slave would have been allowed to touch one stone of the living gods tomb.  WElcome to the forums and post often, do you have any links to post on this group?

oh please.  everybody knows early man use brontosauri as cranes.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

lol What I mean is that

lol

What I mean is that most social networking sites and games outright forbid religious persecution of any kind. What you described certainly qualifies, and the studio can/should ban all accounts participating in it, unless they don't have that clause in the TOS.
