Building Evolution Block By Block

Studying the origin of life at its building block level offers a unique perspective on evolution, says a researcher with the curious name of Root-Bernstein, working out of Michigan State University. The suitably white-coated prof, who was soundly mocked at prep school because he wore thick glasses and read Web of Life while the other 7 year olds played handball, is looking for patterns in glucose binding sequences in proteins and peptides as he seeks drivers of evolution at the molecular level. According to him, these building blocks are the same for bacteria and multicellular life and that's about all the copyright bursting editorialising I can bring myself to do just now.
