Why did my signature not show up? And how come I can't edit my post?

I don't think you can edit OPs anymore, and your post has to be a certain length for the signature to show up.

We could test it ourselves. Let's make a series of posts with an increment in the amount of characters. We start with 118, because we know it doesn't work with the post you just wrote.
